    The "phiiiisss" sound!

Hi! I'm new here n also new to the turbo cars world.

one of the reason why i wanted a turbo car was the sound...the after I started reading this forum I discovered how bad BOV are. My question will be if there is any other way to get the sound w/o damaging the engine...

    thanks for your cooperation.

Removing the intake silencer and going with a K&N or similar panel filter in the stock airbox will yield the quiet, but noticable 'woosh' that you crave without the negative effects of an atmospheric BOV.

so you bought a wrx just b/c of the show-off valve sound? You only need an atmospheric bov if you're running 20+ pounds of boost. Stock one can't handle that much!

Nothing will sound like a BOV. Remvoing the silencers and using an intake will add a whoosh noise as air comes in. Once you go Stage 2 you will hear the turbo spool and more of a psst sound, sort of.

A turbo inlet will make it loud paired with a RAI.

Get the Cobb intake or the SPT intake and you'll hear the sound.

I saved 200 dollars by removing my silencer.

I can hear a whoosh without being totally annoying, you can hear it when the radio is off.
