My uncle has one on his WRX and it has over 70,000 miles on it, and he put it on around 2000 miles. It runs fine. You guys can argue all you want, the vented air is negligible between shifts. Someone else can worry about the problems with a 100,000 + mile car if you want to keep it that long, if problems arise.

hey guys, is it bad for my engine if I disconnected the re-circulating part of my stock bov? I just unhooked the tube part so now it makes the awesome "tsshhh" sound. I also taped up the tube end that went into the BOV so nothing gets in the intake mani. It does idle weird sometimes and stalls if the RPMs fall to low. Stock 2014 WRX. Thanks

We aren't telling you your car is going to explode from this, but what we are telling you is that if you care about performance then this is not an ideal situation. Your car is designed in such a way that your engine reads the amount of air coming in prior to the blow off valve and supplies the proper amount of fuel for that amount of air. Then the blow off valve (unknown to your ECU) releases some of that air, thus causing a rich condition. This is safer than running a lean condition (which COULD cause your engine to fail), but you are not getting maximum performance from your car (depending on how rich you will have back firing, or at the least, lots of black soot etc are signs). You are not getting maximum performance from your car. If you are ok with that, then it is your car. But please don't state on here that it is fine, as we try and avoid proliferation of bad information for others who might be searching here for good information. Good luck with your car.

It was not a smart thing to do, but a good thing to ask. I would put it back to the way it was and not do anything like this again. The key to "safely" modding your car is doing research research research and then some more research before you do anything. There are a lot of knowledgeable people/vendors on here, so check in with them (or find a knowledgeable tuner/mechanic to consult) before you do ANYTHING to your car, and you will learn over time. You don't want to learn how to destroy your car by doing it

    Question....
Running a Greddy Type-S, full recirc...runs great, but it's not my bov.....got a good deal on a Type-RS, the supposed next gen of this valve, and it will not hold boost above 12psi, with the screw at max hardness.....the old Type-S holds 16psi with the Accessport no problem....the RS WILL NOT???? Any ideas? I've heard of spring mods...but shouldn't this valve hold the psi out the box?

How do you know it's the BOV that will not hold the pressure?
