Notice that in cflip2x's response that he mentioned "get a tune". He wasnt kidding. Number one, BOV's are pointless on our cars, and will in fact hurt them. Secondly, you cant just buy an intake and throw it on your car. Sure you will get that sweet pssshhhh sound. But without a tune it will, in time, damage your car. You will also need the accessport and the stage 1 map for the intake along with the intake. Do some research!!!

I knew I would have to get the tune for the intake because it wouldn't run right without it, and in the future hurt the car. I was just asking about the Bov. It's just so expensive for the tune! Had to save up so I could get it all done in one go. I didn't want the intake sitting in my house mocking me.

Im not 100% on it but I believe Perrin says you dont need a tune for their intake. That being said I still wouldn't get it without a tune. I wouldnt want to buy something just for a sound that wouldn't help with my cars performance and could potentially cause harm. Now if you want to get a "BOV" and set it to full recirculating you can do that and it shouldn't cause a problem though you would be spending money that you wouldn't need considering you car is still producing stock boost levels.

True that perrin says their CAI will work with our stock tune. I have the Perrin CAI on my wrx, I had it on for about 2k miles before taking it off bc I didnt trust it. I noticed zero issues within the little time I ran it on my car stock. But to be safe, I wouldnt run any intake without a tune.

Without having a way to log data (i.e. either tactrix/laptop, or access port), and wideband 02 sensor there is really no way to know if the intake is not negatively affecting your car. I wouldn't advice about trusting an intake as "safe" without a tune unless you have a way to be certain. I doubt Perrin would replace your engine if something went wrong.

An aftermarket BPV (by pass valve) that is fully recirculating will be beneficial if you get to stage 2 levels. The stock plastic one on the wrx can fail as low as stage 2 levels.

Well the BOV has to have an outlet to go back to the intake tract...meaning it has to be at least an adjustable BPV or a full BPV. A regular old VTA BOV can't just be plumbed back into the intake without some custom fab work of some kind. Regardless, you'd need a long enough or thick enough dump tube to go back to the most likely capped-off port on the intake inlet that's attached to the turbo.

I don't see how that would have anything to do with Emissions though...it's not exhaust gasses. It's compressed intake charge...no danger to environment.

Yeah its the fact that the gas from the turbo is not going back through the exhaust system which means it doesn't meet the emission laws here (yes silly I know)

So sounds like something I can't just do myself as Ill need to get something made up t connect it back into the exhaust?
