why do you need one by the way? Just for sound? or for over 20psi?

Well I may get one. Don't need/completely want one right now.

But if I make the decision to get one then, I want to make the right choice.

keep in mind that the stock one isn't bad. I know yours is worse than the metal ones... but still it's pretty good. So unless you're past stage 2 and now looking at a turbo upgrade... it probably won't be the best money spent

That's because the Chinese eBay crap knocked off the TXS I/Cs (they were some of the first aftermarket ones to come out for Subaru).

I don't see why you couldn't get an adapter flange to use a STi BOV on a LGT style TMIC.

Is it true that somewhere in the world a helpless kitten dies every time someone installs a Vta BOV on an otherwise stock wrx?

Not just dies...it is slaughtered with a slash to the neck, drip dried of its blood, then the blood is force fed through straws to puppies.

Are there any specific BOV's that are better than others? Ones that are more reliable or louder than others?

I have 50mm Tial Q BOV. It is a quality product, no problems after one year of using and it is making nice amount of sound
