Also, the recirculating valve injecting air back into the intake in front of the turbo inlet should at least [theoretically ] help keep the turbo spooled up between shifts. By running an atmospheric BOV you're essentially wasting that energy to make an annoying noise instead.

Are there any BPV/BOV that doesn't sound like the stock one? Most of them seem to do so.

A lot of them. The HKS SSQV sounds like a failed attempt to hold in a fart, for example.

Yes HKS is one of my favorites actually, but I can't find one for this car. Are they or can they be universal?

As far as I know, they sell universal ones. Typically, what makes them "Subaru-specific" is the flanging. You'd just need a way to get it on the car.

I will say, however, that valve is notorious for leaking...

    +1

I wouldn't waste money on the packaging it even came in. Poor quality piece.

Yep, the HKS SSQV is universal fit.. and leaking is a very common problem with them.

Ok so I don't want that. Which are solid? Or shall I stay stock?

Unless you are running >18 PSI, I'd stay stock. No need to spend the money on a part you don't require. If you are running >18 PSI, the GV/GR guys tend to recommend the Forge 100% recirc BPV which will sound stock. At worst, you'd want to run a 50/50 atmospheric/recirc BPV/BOV as it does not impact performance as poorly as a full VTA BOV. Besides, RFL BOVs tend to carry a ricer stigma regardless.

Stock.. or the Forge Recirculating Race BOV, that's what I'm using. Recirculating valves have much less trouble with leaks because the vacuum from the recirc side helps hold the valve shut.

I'd throw the Tial QR into the mix, as well.

Huh that's interesting... I would think the vacuum would actually have the tendency to open the valve sooner...
