I really heard the bpv this morning for the first time right as I was getting on the road. I don't know if I personally would want it louder, but if i did I would just get an intake to hear the stock system, sounds very similar to a bov

They don't make HKS hybrid BOV's? I can't find any. All i see is turbo XS and for the most part they do sound stock.

Whenever I hear a WRX with a loud BOV I automatically think the owner is either ignorant, or a ricer... true story.

Oh wow really? Maybe they just want to hear it.

Do all hybrid bov's sound the same?

Fixored. Why would you ever recommend a SRI when the CAI is the only way to go?

A tune isn't necessary with just the intake. The car will run just fine without it. You're just not going to get the benefits you will by going stage 1 + intake.

Good idea. Get an AEM - built by an OEM Subaru supplier, dry filter media for no oiled MAF issues, true cold air intake, good fitment, price, quality, and sound.

So just get an AEM intake and call it a day rather than messing with a stock part that works perfectly and replacing it with a part that isn't really going to change your sound versus the intake that will provide the sound and possibly some small power benefit.

Yup me too! Because if they have one and aren't at least stage 3 they are ignorant and/or a ricer!

I was reading with a CAI you won't be able to get a FMIC. Or these cars dont run those either?

Well that's almost always the case, or they want others to hear it. It's like those things you stick in the muffler of a Cavalier to make it whistle like a turbo. To me, someone who is willing to sacrifice performance (and/or reliability) for a particular look or noise is either ill/uninformed, or simply a ricer (really immature car enthusiast).

Now that being said, it's your car, so you can do what you want with it (lord knows people do all kinds of things to their cars that I would never do to my own). And, the vast majority of people actually are ignorant to how cars work and will think it's cool.

..and I guess I can't bash it THAT much, since in about a month my new build will be done with a Tial Q atmospheric BOV. Of course that's because the car is being tuned on speed density and adding a port to my custom intake just so I can recirculate my old Forge BPV doesn't really make sense.

Depends on the intake/FMIC. Many FMICs only are able to run SRIs, but a few can be ran with CAIs. KSTech, for example, makes some CAIs for use with FMICs.

Depends on the intake in question.

I have a FMIC and a cold air intake. I'm running 20 psi so the stock bpv had to go. Running a greddy type s recirculated. It isn't much louder than the stock one with the cai. You do hear that trademark whistle very well tho

Where did you get the greddy from? I like that sound.

If I install a BOV I'll be enjoying the noise too much to care what other people think. Honestly there's so much groupthink on subby boards that I'm tempted to install one AND run mobil 1 just out of spite lol.
