BOV has nothing to do with a built motor...it's all about the amount of boost it needs to hold. Stockers are good for just over 20psi...so unless you're getting protuned over Stage 2, or a new turbo or upping the boost significantly like that, you shouldn't even need to consider a BOV...and even then, the best bet is a BPV so that you still get a stock-acting system that vents back to the intake track.

It's not a design flaw...and the 02-07s hold to ~20 psi before they start to leak.

Hey guys I just picked up a 2007 WRX and the blow off from the turbo is to quiet imo, I really enjoy the sound of a BOV, what would you guys recommend for a BOV thats decently loud and mean sounding.

A good short-ram intake will solve that for you (hopefully).
I have been through a modicum of BOVs and hybrid types, I learned the hard way.
First, BOVs mess with A/F ratio, so you will lose some power.
Second, that sound is a pressure drop too rapid for the MAF to follow, so even with a tune, it's gonna get
weaker the louder the valve is allowed to be (50/50 types try to "step" the release so that some
reciprocated air can balance the A/F ratio.

    I tried:
    GFB 50/50
    GreddyRS BOV
    OBX Adjustable 50/50

    I now use:
GreddyRZ with hotpipe on STi 2010 Intercooler...

    results....

    Zero sound, absolute throttle response.
I get a kick out of spanking others with WRXs and STis which hiss at take-off...

so do most of us who have tuned stock engines to maximum potential.

Upgrade the turbo system to a larger compressor, etc... THEN you will NEED a VTA valve, there is no way a MAP needs that air.
For as long as you are untuned and using the stock MAF, you won't benefit from a BOV.

IMO, a nicely set up BPV is prettier than a BOV...

that'd be my setup there... the Greddy bits can be setup as a BOV, and as a BOV it's THE loudest BOV horn made.
Intercooler replacement gets you a better pressure-drop number (this equals throttle response/power).
Save your clams for an IC and keep the stock BPV...
when the boost gets close to 20psi during your mods, THEN consider the alternatives for valving it.
It is VERY helpful during tuning to have a faster acting valve. It is in NO WAY helpful during tuning on a stock setup.

    Hope this helps!

    Call me crazy or not??

So im looking into a new BOV/BPV to replace the stock on my 2011 wrx. All the sites you see are anywhere between $150.00 and even up to $350 bucks for a new one. Which isnt a big deal i dont want to cheap out on this kind of stuff. But then you get on ebay and see some of the "supposibly" same ones selling anywhere between $30 and $100 bucks. Same item description and everything so it says... My question is what the hell is the difference? or does ppl on ebay just put that on there and sucker ppl in to buying what they think is a name brand part when really its just a cheaper look alike. Just curious as to what you guys think...
