"The BIG BOV thread" (Where all bov question threads get merged) - Page 748

This is a discussion on "The BIG BOV thread" (Where all bov question threads get merged) within the Engine Modifications forums, part of the Tech & Modifying & General Repairs category; I moved all the "intake" questions to a new thread.. This one is cluttered to hell, as it is.....

ok, went back a few pages and didn't see this answered.

I have an 09 wrx, and i'm getting ready to go stage 2 on both 93oct and e85.

I have read that the stock bpv is plastic and can leak when the stock boost level is increased. As such I was thinkin of getting an aftermarket bpv. I was looking at the forged one.

Is this correct, and is that a good replacement?

Usually above 20-22psi, they'll start leaking boost, yes.

    Forge Motorsport makes good stuff.

I also commend you on still choosing a BPV!

any suggestions on which bov to get?!

I just recently bought a 2004 wrx with 71000 miles. Everything is stock on it except for a short RAM intake that I just installed which in an injen. I'm only doing slight mods and I don't know too much about it. Does anyone have any suggestions about which big I get. I want something that sounds good and not sure which to get. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Kill the thread and ban anyone who starts a new BOV thread.

We should merge this thread with the "how fast have you been" thread...put the two worst threads together for fun.

I mean, I was a noob back in 2006 when I bought my first STI...I never ONCE considered wanting a BOV for my car. Why do so many people want to do that??? First thing I wanted was a CBE to open up the rumble. And my reading and research continued from there.

If you are shopping for a massive turbo upgrade, and want something to keep pressures controlled, sometimes the OEM piece just won't do. On the other hand, some want to SOUND like they have massive engine or turbo work done, and want to blow unburned fuel into their engine bays. Let them. This is why they are sent here with their questions, so that we can give an educated response and recommend selling it.

This allows those of us with too much intercooler pressure to need our OEM bypass valves to sell them, keeping the Subaru community from wasting tons of money on new parts, when barely used ones like BOVs and such can be had reasonably from people who are hurting their cars with them.

    Good for everyone, this thread.
Anyone have a GFB Deceptor Pro for sale with a WRX flange on the elbow I have an elbow, just the flange needs to fit) and the WRX IC baseplate? I'll pay $150 max.

If I get an intake and cobb stage 1 tune will I be able to use a BOV? Or is the cobb stage 1 tune not tuned to run with BOVs?
