having had an sr20det-powered S13, myself, (drift car), I can't say I 'ever' recall such a blockoff plate being used, or what the point/purpose of doing such..

I'll bet it was a two horn BOV, and if the owner wanted quieter sounds, one horn could be deleted w/ a plate. That would make sense.

Avoid eBay BOV kits that offer a free "billet plug" for your reciprocal air line. As nice as a piece of spun Aluminum might look in the photo, it won't look good on a lift with a confused mechanic trying to figure out what mod killed the car.

    Re: "You lost me"

I am trying to fathom why anyone would delete the valve entirely, and it could be that a replacement valve kit was what the OP on the subject of removing the BPV meant.

On rBay, there are some valves for sale which include a plug for the return line (where our BPVs vent to). I tried plugging mine, and it was bad news. I plugged mine with a Ronson lighter fluid cap. It made the engine choke when the BPV was opening. I just wanted to see what would happen diring the install of the GReddy piece I am using, as it comes with a hardpipe, and the knockoffs only come with a plug. Pipe = great, plug = aweful.

Billet Plug,1.25" EVO8/WRX BOV Block off Diverter Valve:eBay Motors (item 380116380575 end time Sep-05-09 22:40:46 PDT)

that thing... fortunately GReddy knows better, I'd have found something really evil to do with that plug...

Stock bpv = great, anything else = awful

Well, maybe not the Forge Motorsport BPV. But what is a reciprocal air line?

I assume you meant the recirculating air hose that goes from the BPV back into the turbo inlet hose....

    TOTAL NOOB QUESTION HERE:

I have a 1998 WRX automatic transmission in Japan (first time Subaru owner or turbo owner for that matter) and I looked for a BPV at the bottom of the IC and did not find one. At least nothing that looks like anything I have seen in pics. Do automatics have this or is the BPV mainly for manual transmissions?

*** Nevermind, on my IC, there is a hose that comes out where every BPV I have seen is at and the actual BPV is directly under the IC. Now I am not too sure if it would be worth it to change to a BOV in the future.

well if your looking for just perfect performance and dont care about sound stick with the recirculating bov..stock is fine until u up the boost alot, there alot of nice after market ones out there also...if u docare about sound, and lokks for that matter turbosmart makes a dual port (50/50) bov wich works very well. sounds awsome too and it will not mess up your air fuel ratio like a full atmospheric bov will ether...it might make u run alittle bit richer at times but it wont make much of a difference or mess your motor up...my buddy has been using one for 20000+ miles on his sti with no issues,
