Why you shouldnt have a BOV.

So today i was driving home lateda and i see another WRX same exact as mine but with exhaust(looked like cobb,TurboXS, not the 4 inch huge ending) and some obnoxious BOV. Im hoping he didnt have a turbo back just a catback in this case.

We pulled out onto the highway with me right behind him. He zips up and i follow and we coast around 60(im still in 3rd) i give the 3 beep show and off we go and immediately i pull away quick, it seemed like i was racing a 2.5 impreza! by 4th he was 3-4 car lengths behind.

So my point/question is that im sure his engine was suffering in performance with the BOV and air intake that he probably had. My car is completly stock with 63k 5MT.

There's nothing in the post that is 'Engine Modification' related, other than a 'theory' that a BOV made his car slower than yours. Far more factors involved than that.

trouble with BOV and Car dying

i just put on an SSQV BOV and since then every time i go high up in RPM's it dies after i put the clutch in. my Friend who has one says the the ECU needs to re-learn, the BOV is also non-recirculation. Does any one know how to fix this?

Take off the BOV. Your friend is wrong, it will never learn the BOV.

    BOV help

Alright so I know BOV on stock WRX's aren't good, but my friend and I were wondering if BOVs are ok if they have the recirculation hooked back up? I'm really new to this world of Subaru tuning so anything that anyone can tell me would help alot. Thanks!
