    bov and intake?

Bov that run at 100% makes the car run rich. With a intake it runs lean. Do u guys think having both on would even out.

That is too general - but there is some truth.

Some intakes make it run lean because they are a different diameter to the stocker and the larger diameter fools the MAF sensor to thinking there is less air actually going into the engine.

A 100% BOV can make the engine run rich only between shifts when it vents air that has already been metered by the MAF and hence the ECU injects fuel to match, but the corresponding air is making that nice 'pssshht' noise rather than burning with the fuel.

Since the effects are not both constant and to the same amount - your theory of 'intake + 100% BOV = no rich or lean condition' will not work.

    Cheers,

    Andrew

Second that. I've been looking at the Forge 100% ATM BOV, but have yet to hear one.

So which is the correct one for an '02 WRX? They have a bunch and I don't understand their terminology.

so these things vent to atmosphere 100%? i read that with that setup, the air flow meter "sees a large increase in airflow that is not entering the engine, leading to an excessively rich gas/air mixture, backfiring, and generally soggy performance. this is why subaru vents the BOV back into the air inlet system"
    -MRT Training WRX, Vol II

correct me if im wrong, but wouldn't that mean that a BOV venting 100% to atmosphere is detrimental to the health of the car?

I too have that book - but to be honest - I don't see that effect. If you have a poorly adjusted BOV (ie that is venting other than when you lift your foot of the gas) I can see that happening.

Believe me - if it was running worse I would be putting the stocker back on.

'nuther vote for the forge, got mine for 100 bucks, sounds awesome and runs just like the stocker, they have a sort of, dual valve system, with two separate springs, it works well.

now the txs-rfl on the otherhand made my car run rich and it leaked at idle.

you need a 12mm socket and a pair of pliers.

    remove vacuum hose
    take out the two bolts
squeeze the hose clamp on the return hose and pull out the stock BOV
    insert the return hose plug
    release the hose clamp
    insert bolts in new BOV
    replace vacuum hose

    takes all of 5 minutes

    Sound clip of Forge BOV

I'm sick of my HKS, i would get the Forged just because it's a strong muscular sound, not like my high pitched HKS. I would also look into a custom fited Tial BOV.... Wish i could also run Tial Wastegate... damn stupid IHI turbos...

Forgedmotorsport got good products (at least for VW and Audi's), George Osmun from Forged is a good guy also~

Sorry to piggy back the thread, but since we are all looking at the same site...But that place also carry Milltek exhaust, i heard good things about them from my VW days. I would also like to try that. 2.75piping, solid good looks. I'm kind sick of all the cannon style exhaust, so i might get the European tuners a try...
