Guys,

I really want to get a blow off valve for my car but my buddy told me to get a "recirculating" one. I had a mopar one on my srt-4 and i loved the sound of it. Now is this a no-no?

BOV's + Subie stock=bad news

but you'll be glad either way that you're in a WRX now.

take that BOV money and put it toward going Stage2 or some nice exhaust and rims or something.

A recirc valve (like your stock BPV) will likely not give you the sound you are desiring.

well the recirculating will only put back 50% back of what your ecu expects, so it wont be as bad, but still your car will not run right.

Ok, what you're thinking in terms of a BOV is a "vent-atmosphere type" like the one that you had on your SRT-4. This is what makes that loud Whoosh blow off sounds.
The WRX has a recirc. BOV (aka bypass valve BPV) on there stock. this one is plenty good until you get into bigger turbo high boost applications.
So technichally there is no point in buying another recirculating BOV.

But if you like that sounds so much, here's my advice to you.
The best you can do is either do a Silencer delete (look it up-lots of threads on this and is easy to do) or get a RAM air intake or somthing like that. They increase the sounds of your stock BOV and it sounds really good if you're into the BOV sound.

I did both of those on mine and it sounds pretty nice. Not as loud as an atmospheric BOV, but definately noticeable.

no, intake is not a bad thing. just don't get cold air intake.

I have the SPT short ram which is made by subaru and doesn't void your warranty either. i'd pick one of those up. they're pretty nice.

most opt for the silencer delete... the stock intake snorkle is better than any short ram in my opinion...

they'll have parts out soon enough.
I heard of some people TBE's on their 08's already.
but I don't know much on this subject.

i had a borla on my 5th gen civic and hated it!! i was at the vintage grand prix in pittsburgh last summer and they had three subarus there from some racing team out east and they had this exhaust on this legacy that was awesome!! it was the dual exhaust but the diameter of the exhaust was huge!! i have never seen anything like it...here is a pic of one of them
