sounds like you dont have a tight fit on your IC. probably need a different gasket to seal it better.
+1 to replacing it with stock bpv. unless youre running 20+ psi, your stock bpv is unsurpassed.

Its not a huge deal. It might damage your cats over time. You'll have to replace your plugs more frequently. I know several people with them. Its your car. Do some research before modding. Good luck!

I've never actually heard a sound clip of one of those things. They sound terrible. That middle video is hilarious though. The fake BOV noise maker coupled with the flame thrower mod, it's an unbeatable combo.

Hey guys, since this is my first turbo'd vehicle I'll most likely have lots of questions lol but I use the search button and didn't really see anything on this. I'm curious with bov's will a cheap one cause any damage to the engine in terms of failing? I see a lot of bov's on ebay for 50 bucks or cheaper and just wondering if it's not worth it? I am going to be saving up for the HKS SSQV bov since i like how it sounds. Also since I won't be recirculating the pressure but releasing it to the atmosphere will this cause any longevity issues with the motor?
With a aftermarket bypass valve will that make the similar sound like w blow off valve? Also since there is some issues with using a blow off valve what can I do to compensate for those issues, I'd really like to get that HKS SSQV BOV but just want to make sure my engine doesn't blow up.
In case you were confused...and aftermarket By-Pass Valve is the same thing as a Blow Off Valve. Just different names for the same thing. Some people only refer to recirculating (which is what our stockers do) as BPVs where as the ones which are loud and vent to the atmosphere are BOVs.
There really isn't anything you can do...some people say you can "tune for them" but thats not really true...or you could raise boost (hopefully with proper engine management) which would be held better by a BOV.
Either way, the MAF sensor is sending data on air volumes to the ECU, but that air from the BPV sending back to the intake tract, isn't getting there, hence car running Rich and possibly causing some problems in the long run (idle, catalysts, etc etc etc).
Some people say the HKS SSQV is the best vent to atmosphere BOV there is...but thats debatable. The only true "fix" for what you want is a hybrid/adjustable BOV which you can adjust the percentage of air that goes to the atmosphere or back into the intake...Worx Tuning, TurboSmart, Go Fast Bits, all make good hybrids.
Best thing to do is stick with the stocker until you actually need a BOV IMO...![]()

ok so what do most of the members here do that have just regular bov's? Do they suffer from major issues? Sorry just trying to educate myself here lol.
MODS Educate away my freind.
Someone, please close this thread and end the madness.
Maybe I am missing something, I just don't get the fascination of having a BOV. Is it cool to have one?
