I've heard a lot of people talk about the consequences of a BOV on a wrx, such as rich oil, but is it anything too serious? What are potential long-term risks of a BOV and what are the benefits of one on a wrx?

A BOV is like when you have a cold.
You sneeze, the car sneezes, too. You can do everything you normally do when you don't have a cold, just not as well. Same for the car. Your cold will eventually cause boogers and snotz, a BOV will do the same (just fouling the plugs).
A cold won't kill you, but it will make you feel like crap.
