I don't. I say go for it. I was at a meet a few weeks ago and this guy on NASIOC has a GC8 painted pink with a WRX swap. It ran 12.5 the day before. Nothing wrong with Pink.

Don't forget curb feelers and a neon shift knob.A great think to check out for Autocross is the Energy Suspension urethane kit.It runs about $130 and for the money is the best bang for the buck suspension upgrade.The 02-03 wrx's came with pretty beefy 20mm sway bars while the 04-05 got 17mm.The kit comes with shifter,front swaybar,rear sway bar,rear endlink,rear trailing link, and front control arm bushings plus a butt-load of urethane jelly.

As for that pink subie...it may be teh faster but it's a little too "Mary Kay" for me. Oh, and no on the carbon fiber...just not a fan. My pink subie is going to be a bit more "Barbie". Tee hee.
