When do you need a BOV?

A BOV replacement is a waste of your hard earned dough. Invest in someting else.

I really enjoyed the Forge 100% recirc valve that I had installed. It just wasn't loud. But maintained OEM driveability.

If you install a complete atmosphere vent (like Blitz I have now), then the car is a little harder to drive smooth. Between shifts the engine bogs a little (more than a split second). Just kinda harder to drive smoothly, but still very driveable.

i dont know...it could be a number of reasons..but aslong as u got it fixed and isolated the problem. everything is peachy

Theres basically a consus around wrx people...

u either have an intake or a Atm. Venting Bov to get that cool PHSSS noise, But never both... and Never with any stage kit that isnt mapped for it.

there's no need to get a BOV beyond stock if you are still running the stock turbo and IC.

you will still run lean, but the WRX stock ECU map runs way in the rich range to be safe, so you should be fine. let us know where you find the best deal, i'm looling into one.

Verduge, can you interchange the blitz filter for a non mesh one? i'd much prefer the safety of a K&N over the steel mesh blitz.

I'm really not sure dR...I haven't seen what the opening on the K&N looks like. The Blitz filter is pretty big. If anything, I'd say go with the LM core instead of the SUS core, since the LM is much more like a K&N.

When do you need a BOV? I just ordered some parts, Blitz dual turbo timer(w/harness and it has a boost guage in it), PDE uppipe and Turbo XS MBC (the cheap one).

1: when you want that cool whoosh noise and don't care about the smoothness of you car during shift.
2: when you have FMIC.
3: when you run a huge turbo and the stock BOV can't handle the huge boost
4: when you have too much money to spend.

...when youve got 1000 hp, same thing applies to an external wastegate.

You always need a BOV.

In regard to an aftermarket BOV, you almost never need one of those.

Unless you like noise.

Aftermarket BOV's are for higher flow or higher boost pressure. Neither one will be likely with a stock turbo or anything remotely near it. Even with an FMIC, you can make the stocker fit on it just as easy as anything else.
