I only heard a small difference in the stock BPV sound after the snorkus removal. The bigger difference is in intake and turbo sounds, though once in a while my BPV seems kind of loud.

Not at all. It's really a pointless mod, except for the improved sounds. I still recommend doing it because intake and turbo sounds are teh best.

Answered my own question. It does seem that this mod will throw a CEL and the ECU has to be reset to avoid this...

yeah i've never heard of that either.

the title of this thread got me thinking though... would it be possible to T off the recirc hose and have it open to the atmosphere to allow some of the air to escape and make a louder noise? i guess that would mess with the MAF since it would also be allowing extra air into the system. anywho, i have no desire to do it just wondering if thats what was trying to be achieved here.

aftermarket uppipe/downpipe seems to make it louder...especially the downpipe.

the snorkus/elbow removal will only make it audible inside the car...outside, there won't be any difference. With the uppipe/downpipe, it will be audible from the ourside...as well as lots more turbo whine, air suction, etc.

    Gfb Bov seal problems

(Don't know if this is in the right section or not BTW)

Well, I just got my car on Friday and twas driving around tonight and the BOV was venting early and making all kinds of funny sounds. I pooooped the hood and there was an o-ring/seal in the trumpet outlet. I got it out by blipping the throttle and opening the piston. I *think* it's the seal that seals the piston to the body when it's closed. Can I get a replacement (Ie, has anyone had this problem, and if so will it happen again?) It looks like a hard plastic seal (viton perhaps?) If it's supposed to be a SOFT rubber seal, then maybe that's why it popped out?

I removed the seal and reinstalled the BOV, and adjusted it to fully divert the charge back to the MAF until I can get it fixed. (FX Stealth fully adjustable) It doesn't appear to be leaking boost, but w/ the MBC who knows. If it is leaking it's very subtle.

FWIW, I'm going to contact GFB, just wandered if this is common, if it is, the BOV is going E-ghey once I fix it. All I need is my new Scooby injesting some plastic. Thanks for any input.

Get a FMIC and an aftermarket intake...then the stock BPV will be really loud.
