instead of a show off valve I got a paintball gun, now instead of revving up and blowing off to get peoples attention I just shoot at them with my paintball gun. It works every time.

I have heard many say hks ssqv but overall it's real quiet. I read some where in a mag. it said the sock bov is good til 15psi. If you want to here the stock one pretty well then get a short ram filter setup.

    BOV question #100001

Is it true that every 10k miles you have to clean and lube a blow off valve. I am about to buy a used WORX BOV with 1.5k miles on it and i dunno if i should if i end up having to send it in to clean and lube. Is this true? If so which bov out there does not require maintenence?

i think the only time you need to clean it (if ever) is if it is sticking, but all blow off valves are different and im no genious...

I clean my TXS RFL, just because I am a maintenance type person. I figure if its clean and lubricated properly then it'll do what it need to for many days to come......

P.S. Im also in the army where this is a big deal!!!

OBP Impreza WRX STi Stage 2 @22psi. MasterTuned on 94 octane. PIA Dyno'd at 301 AWHP & 330 AWTQ only could boost at 19psi on the dyno so not sure what it would be at 22psi.

Generally speaking, any moving mechanical device needs maintenance at some point. I've bought 3 used bov's and I cleaned and lubed each one before I put it on. The worx unit is VERY easy to open (couple of hex screws on the top). Once you open it up, wipe everything down and maybe use some compressed air, smear on some lube (worx recommends lithium based lube if I remember correctly), and put it back together. It literally takes 10 minutes to do and it gives a little piece of mind. Good luck!

Check out the sticky at the top of this forum. Unless you're running 20 PSI or more, an aftermarket BOV, any brand really, is unnecessary and may even be detrimental to performance.

What do you mean by lithium based? Would that be something like WD-40?

    That's not what he asked.

I noticed this bov a couple of months ago and asked greddy if they were going to make it in a wrx flange and they said no. So you would have to make your own flange for it. Also, me and some guys on the evo forums were talking about it. One guy installed one on his evo and he has a sound clip. Check this thread out.
