If it is a lot it could be a sign that the seals on the turbo are going. If its just a little blow by I wouldn't worry and just get a catch can.

If the BOV is causing compressor surge you may want to remove it because that could be causing the probem. (Fluttering when letting off the gas when the BOV doesn't open.)

    Good luck.

IMO, keep the stock bypass valve and spend money on other performance/handling upgrades.

    Worx BOV 1.2

I'm eye'n up the WORX BOV 1.2. I know the hybrids will work better than the 100% atmospheric ones. Is it a good choice for our STi's? Will it improve boost time? Make things worse?

    Thanx

no complaints about the worx here.
I'm running 50/50 and my idle is good, turbo response is good.
The sound is good and not too loud.

By the waycoil2sti25, has your strut bar improved your steering response significantly? The STi CF one is on my short list too.

    Thanx

    When to get a BOV?

    Hello suby guys and gals,

I've been reading up a lot on this site about BOV's, mixed opinions of course, but haven't picked up when a BOV wont be harmfull to the engine?

I plan on ordering subydudes helix setup, is that enough? (up/dp and tbe)
Try to answer the question of when the bov wont be harmfull, not when I would see power gains, I think I've figured that out.

    thanks
    Sour

as to my knowledge it's never harmful. i think it makes you run richer between shifts, but that was the first thing i put on(i know im a ricer, but i 17 y/o needs to show off to his friends) my car hasnt had any bad things happen to it. so i say if you want one get one.

I'm at stage two and have been running a bov for about 10,000 miles without any problem. It does nothing for performance but i love the sound.

if you're asking when you HAVE to get one the answer is after you start pushing more than 18 pounds of boost...and you should get a recirc. type.

if you want the sound, you can pretty much get it any time. it will hurt performance slightly...I had one for almost 2 years, but when I got my AccessPORT I got rid of it. My car runs WAY better with the stage 1 map after I removed the AP. don't get me wrong..it ran fine with it too...but much smoother now. Also, the sound tends to slow our shifts down...when you hear the sound you automatically start timing your shifts to the sound...I did, lots of other people do. This actually slows down your shift since you can shift faster than the BOV dumps. you can make yourself not do it, but if you stop paying attention...its kind of instinctive.
