    WHAT?!?!?!

I thought cold air intakes are HOTTTTT. j/k

First I would learn what mods your car and setup actually need, then i would try and buy the parts myself and replace the stock airbox with the stock bov and get a CEL fix for that exhaust. Good luck.

Here is the video of the Greddy Type S on my car blowing off and you can see the scratch on the face of it that I was talking about in the previous post. Toward the end of the video you can also see the block off in the recirculate hose below the bov. I will take $150 shipped OBO. Let me know.

there are two kinds of people with intakes on an EJ20

    Idiots

    People with upgraded turbo's

that pretty much sums it up when you think about it. turbo cars, dont benefit from such designs like a naturally aspirated motor.. another good example is the toyota supra.

the subaru's electronics are very intelligent, while a less restrictive air tract may hurt the subaru's performance between gear shifts. A stock intake and maf, set up with Cobb software, performs rather nicely.
Im gettting 11psi at 2200 rpm, along with 15.3 at 6krpm.
Is anything wrong with my airbox.... no.

and i cringe every time i hear intake, because i think valves or intake manifold, but those would be actually respectable mods.

now when i see a wrx with an intake, it seems like they always have riced out body parts too. i think that EBAY might be responsible for a fair share of car malfunctioning.

Electric superchargers, xenon gas bulbs , MAF resistors, Intakes, cheap springs, and awful exhaust copies are rampant on ebay... be careful guys....

you can't run recirc w/that much boost? as i said before I noticed a WORLD of difference with the stock BOV back on compared to the HKS SSQV. I have heard the HKS can hold 30+ psi.

I allready ordered a Greddy Type-S today along with my FP Green turbo ! Be honest with me ...................... how was the driveability and idle with the Type S running open atmosphere ? Was it hard to adjust ? How was on/off throttle driving with it ? Thanx . Sorry for all the questions . Dave

I have had the car stall out two times in the past over about a 6 month period but with your emanage it shouldn't be a problem to tune out. The shifting is not as smooth but nothing bad. There is definitely not another BOV for my money that sounds as good as this one though. The flames from the exhaust between shifts are pretty cool sometimes too I guess. I wouldn't be trying to sell it if I didn't need the money to buy an intake.

I've had a GFB running at 50/50 for well over 60K miles with no problems. About 2k miles ago I set it to 100% ATM and didn't notice much difference in performance. If there's a drop its practically negligible. If you were racing and were looking for every little bit of performance out of your car I'd put the stock valve back on, but if you're just driving around, you won't miss the VERY slight performance drop. This mod is definately all bling and no zing, but if you really like the noise....

I am noy buying a BOV for the sound . I am buying it because my stock BOV is leaking badly at 18-19 PSI . Sound does not make one bit of difference to me . I bought a Greddy Type-S . I will run it open and if the performance is very poor then I will vent it back into the intake . Thanx . Dave

txs shorty is nice for the sound tho... that's pretty much the only reason for the intake (and bov = P). I think the same length pipes and everything keep it stock-like but allow for a nicer sound.

Obviously, he only needs the maf replaced for 300 and the cats are not there cuz he took them out so he doesn't need that fixed.
was that in response to my post? 'cause if it was you didn't understand what I posted...

Most likely the dealer just pulled the codes and they came out with MAF and Cat Cel related codes. And judging from experience with dealer shops, that's probably the extent of their diagnostic. They don't take into consideration anything else. they read the code, give you a diag and a quote. When you bring in the car then they start to work on it.

He should test the MAF to see if it really needs replacement. The AEM is probably what's screwing up the readings. But I rather find out if it is or not by testing it myself, instead of just giving the stupid dealer $2K blindly. If it turns out that it is bad, then yeah, buy the sensor for $300 bucks and replace it. but don't take the dealers word for it, 'cause what they're saying sounds like BS ($2000 to replace a MAF sensor?)

He should just be aware that these alarms are caused by mods he put in, not necessarily because there's something BROKEN in the car.

and just incase. this is not a flame, nor a snappy remark intended to offend or burn anyone. Just an explanation of what I posted. Just trying to help out.... that's all...

APS IS THE BEST. I can't believe how smooth it is. It like the RPM needle is on butter. I dunno. I love it. I am running like 18psi
