I got the CAI from Fast WRX.com and they never put a number on HP increase. They only said don't drive in high water or you could hydro-lock the motor. Thanks for the advice.
This is a discussion on "The BIG BOV thread" (Where all bov question threads get merged) within the Engine Modifications forums, part of the Tech & Modifying & General Repairs category; The sound you're hearing when you get on the gas is a combo of air being sucked and the turbo ...
The sound you're hearing when you get on the gas is a combo of air being sucked and the turbo spinning.
Cold air intakes (CAI) are known to make the turbo sound more audible as well as the BOV sound.

I hooked everything that it came with up?? Am i missing something?? I have a TurboXS V2 TMIC maybe this is the problem?? I dont know ... anything you guys could suggest would help alot ... thanks ... james
BOV do help if you have a large turbine. You can alslo change spring rate to compensate for boost pressure.

You bought it from them. What they said was true(about hydrolock) . Do a search for CAI and read it from people who aren't selling it to you.Originally posted by reillydog

P.S> I'm not trying to be an ass. I used to have a CAI until I learned about the negatives about it.
So has anyone done it? I would love to know because I am BROKE and plan on getting a new turbo and running up to and maybe over 20 psi...also I just hung out with a 1g DSM'er last night and his stock crushed BOV sounds bad ass.![]()

I crushed one for a customer at the track once. It worked well and allowed him to hold a little more boost to redline.Originally posted by SERacing

It was cheap and effective, although there comes a point where the stock bypass valve isn't going to flow enough for high-pressure applications.

When in doubt, add more boost!
what was the cheapest place you found and also what flange or whatever do i need?
do i just buy the kit or do i need other parts too?
does somewhere sell it all together
HKS BOV preffered.... thanks....
Best price is probably used... I'm actually thinking about selling my HKS.... I'll let you know what I decide...
It doesn't "help," it allows you to do it. When you get bigger wheels you have to get bigger tires. If you increase your boost enough, you need to get bov to support it.Originally posted by ilivas
