    Hi...
I need to ask question too... if u guys don't mind.... i have hks bov too... is that normal if the bov only make sound at high rpm only but it didn't make any sound at low rpm eventhough boost is already above 0 psi.......

I am asking this is because when i compare to my friend's one... his bov make sound at any rpm as long the boost is higher than 0 psi....he has hks bov aswell

if it normal than it's ok... but if it's not normal then ... can somebody help me fix this problem.... i tried to loose it before and tied it before... but it didn't make any different....

    Thanks

Interesting sound with new VF34 turbo

Ok. I have had my new turbo for about a week now and whenever boost spikes to about 1.2 bar or even 1.15 ish I get this higher pitched whistling noise, but only for that small time when the boost peaks. When it levels off the noise subsides. Is this a normal noise for the VF34 or would it be something else like a possible BOV leak at the higher boost? Keep in mind this isn't very loud but it is definitely a higher than normal pitched whistle. Another bit of info: When I had my other boost restrictor and it was overboosting like mad the noise became more prevailant with higher boost level (1.3-1.4 bar).

I'm guessing that is the normal sound of the turbo spooling and reaching very high RPMs. Find some videos of serious turbo charged cars and listen to them. They have super high pitched whistling sounds!
If what you are hearing sounds similar, then I would not worry about it at all.

I hope your right. If it were something wrong with the turbo it would have probably blown up by now, because I have about 400-500 miles on it already. I just wish I could ride in another car with a VF34 to see if they get the same pitch change at that level.

It could be a small leak.. if it is it'll probably go away on it's own as carbon builds up. But it's probably just a normal sound from the turbo.

    Bov

If it sounds like a supercharger wine its probably ur blow off valve thats loose. When i installed my mbc my car sounded louder than an 04 cobra, thought it was normal. Went to the track like that and still managed to get a 13.4 @98. Checked the motor and what do u know, my blow off valve was loose. so its either that or just ur turbo. peace out gabe

Def a leak. A VF34 wont make any crazy high pitch sound that is out of the ordinary in comparision to the rest of its lower boost spool up sounds.

Check all youre hoseclamps, and the plate between the BOV and the I/C. Once they have been ruled out, check the bov itself.

i have a txs rfl and if its similar, there is a internal spring with washers to set the tension on the spring and thus set to release at a certain psi. more washers the higher the boost has to be to vent. if it is still venting there is nothing wrong with it, it just has to be set to your desired level.
have you ever been 4 bagged ???

I have a friend who has the 'race' version of the HKS BOV on his EJ25 hybrid and it sounds MEAN. Its welded on to his MRT FMIC.
