May I suggest that we move BOV threads out of "pure performance" forums entirely? Someone might accidentally get the impression that they serve some useful purpose.

and move them where? its an engine part is it not...

It's just that basically the only issue in BOV choices on the WRX is "which one sounds cooler" and as far as I'm concerned that has nothing to do with engine performance.

Sorry... I'm just being a whiny biatch on a monday morning, I need more coffee.

    Ignore me.

My friend tells me the GFB is the best, because it is recirculating (or can be switched to atmospheric mode)...I hear atmospheric BOV's like the TurboXS RFL make our cars run rich and make them stall. Sooo my question is, whats the difference between an atmospheric BOV and the recirculating BOV? And why the problems with the atmospheric BOV?

I have a red GFB for sale if you are interested. It was on my car for about a year (50/50) settings. It sounds great and it's not too loud to get the attention of the police. I never ran 100% atmospheric, but with 50/50 my car never stalled or ran rough.
    Thanks,
    Ali

    BOV Question

Just out of curiousity, what would happen if you vented the stock BOV into the atmosphere and just capped off the return hose? Would it work? Would you get a louder Phsssssshh noise? One of my buddies and I were talking about this the other day and couldn't see why it wouldn't work. But then maybe we overlooked something....

I've tried it and my car ran terrible. It wanted to stall every time I stopped and I got a CEL. IIRC, several other members have tried it and have gotten similar results.

    Cutting vacuum lines

Just in case anyone was wondering, the cost to replace the original vacuum lines for the boost solenoid and turbo is 110 bucks. So don't cut them with scissors when installing an MBC like I did!!

my first hand knowledge w/ boost controllers, electronic and manual, has shown that there is no such thing.

    don't worry about it.

I have the Blitz bov and sus filter. Along with the godspeed downpipe and Greddy exhaust. Car is pretty quiet comparing to the turbo xs exhaust. But this is how i like it. The bov is pretty loud. I have not noticed it leaking at all. The Greddy type s bov is a different sound, at least in turbo hondas and eclipses, a much higher pitched noise. The Greddy Type r bov is a totally different sound, much more aggressive, but high boost levels are needed. Maybe they have a sound sample on their web sites?
