Well, many may say that even my new muffler is "ricey"... cause it's still a 4.5 inch tip.... but it's a more traditional shape, and it's nicely tucked up under my rear bumper. I wanted something that onlookers to do a double-take and say "Hey.... what's he got going on under there?"... but the low-hanging, cylindrical, angled-out fartcan had to go...... I just don't like what it symbolized.

as long as you don't get autozone mufflers you're not ricey in my book!![]()
You're correct.... NOTHING "performs and flows" better than a fartcan. That's what Cobb told me, so tht's one of the main reasons I purchased one.
It's unfortunate that the rice crowd has done nothing but reinforced their popularity though..... often by just bolting on a $5 eBay special to their stock 1-inch exhaust. Thats why correctly-built civics sound and perform good, but 95% of them on the roads sound like big mosquitos.
I just didn't want to be even remotely associated with them.
The WRX and STI are serious cars, capable of producing serious numbers..... yet the majority of the Subaru "outsiders" assume we're just riceburners
Thats why I absolutely HATE it when the young guys do stupid crap to their cars. All it does is just support the negative stigma.
I had a Mustang GT guy start talking smack to me about being a "4-banger riceburner" once..... Until I handed his own ass to him at the local drag strip.

haha same thing happened to me, but i raced a 1998 roush edition mustang...guy thought he would destroy me, "waste of gas for me" i belive he said to a friend...and i spanked him by 1 car length...this was when i had my STOCK TMIC, no turbo inlet ...i think what really won me the race was the Short shifter, no lie...i could see a difference from when he would shift (with those big ole bent stang shifters) and when i would shift ....much quicker...I had a Mustang GT guy start talking smack to me about being a "4-banger riceburner" once..... Until I handed his own ass to him at the local drag strip.

My 12-sec run in my sig? That was a late model Camaro SS. Granted, he blew it at the light, but he still ran a low 14, which is an "ok" time for that car.
I didn't get a video when I ran the Mustang GT guy... he ran in the low 16s--LOL
The best "driving upgrade I've ever made?? The Automater DPSS stage 2 shift light/digital tachometer.... worth it's weight in gold. Here's the writup I did a couple years ago on it:

so when does ur shift light come on?...does it just suddenly appear or does it have like another color light to tell you to get ready to shift then the real shift light comes on?

It has the feature to "warn" you of an upcoming shift, I don't like it though, it just confuses me when I'm trying to concentrate on driving.
Because 1st spins up so fast, I have the shift point set at 6200.... if it's any higher, I hit the rev limiter before I get into 2nd.
2nd-5th, the shift point is set at 6400.
