Daily driving is easy..... my springs are pretty easy on the back... Eibach makes a nice product. I have scraped the lip a couple times, but I got used to what I could and couldn't do..... now I have a brand new one, and I haven't scraped it even once.

Supertones are an easy instal.... thew hard part was finding directions to do it. Don't ask... I had the directions, and then lost them... I'm sure if you search though, you can find good directions.

The de-riceification and de-fartcanation of my exhaust is done

I must say, I've been 100% happy with the sound, the performance, and the integrity of the X02 Racing TBE I bought from eBay over 2 years ago for $299. It has maintained it's structural integrity perfectly, contrary to what many high $$ exhaust buyers have speculated.

With that, when I did the VF39 swap, it did mess up the fitment a "little" as the VF39 turbo is a slightly different width than the stock TD04, never enough to cause any issues though.

I was never terribly happy with the "fartcan" appearance however. It didn't bother me so much when I bought it, but as the "riceburner" image of the WRX continues to grow, I have to do my part to try to knock it back a little.

I must give credit where credit is due... I called or visited over half a dozen places to have this custom exhaust work done. Most places wouldn't touch it, as all they do is buy exhausts, and put them in. Apparently, anybody with an arc welder is now a "custom exhaust specialist". The other places didn't have the capability to bend 3-inch pipe, or were just plain scared to try because the clearance was so tight, and the pipe was so large.

Justin, at "Charlies Auto", in Roy, Utah.... took on the challenge, and did a fantastic job. In addition, he let me sit there and watch, supervise the entire process, and make continuous little 3mm "tweaks" to get it sitting 100% perfectly where I wanted it. He even made sure to leave extra clearance to allow for larger swaybars in the future, and also made sure it cleared the crossmember with plenty of room to spare. It took 2 tries to custom bend a pipe that worked, but he did it, and I absolutely could not be more satisfied. The cost? $50, parts and labor included (Although I tipped him another $20)

The Sound: Is considerably quieter at idle, and gives off a NASTY growl under acceleration. Previously, it was an extremely loud, gargly, racetrack-only sound. It is considerably more "refined" now, and just sounds like a no-nonsense street car.

The muffler: I bought it off eBay for $52 (including shipping). Made by a company called "A-spec". Retail is $120 + shipping. VERY high quality, absolutely no "give" to it at all.... like a brick.
    A SPEC PRODUCTS

    Total cost:
    X02 Racing 3-inch TBE - +$299 shipped
Sold the uppipe that came with it - -$45 (06 WRXs have catless uppipes)
    A-Spec 3-inch muffler - +52 shipped
    Parts/labor +$54 (including tax)
    Tip +$20

Total of everything - $380 (including all shipping/taxes, etc)

Here's what it looked like before:

^^^ Oh yea....... it's still 3 inches, and the muffler is a straight-through design..... it's essentially the same, just a bit quieter and slightly more "adult" LOL

I was never crazy about the fartcan either.... but I couldn't complain about the performance or the price.

But every day.... I see more and more of them on POS civics.... or.... well..... just about anything for that matter. Plus, you can buy fartcan mufflers now for like $5--LOL

I just kept asking myself "does my car look like that?"

+1 Subie Sideways Mullet! That was awesome.

But I agree, your new exhaust looks great! Post up a sound clip. I too have been thinking of getting a new muffler. I have a full helix CBE mated to an Invidia DP and the fit is great, but I'm starting to get over the Melon Shooter on the back, even though I do like the angled look. The muffler is pretty large, so it looks aggressive, compared to the tiny ebay Honda Civic fart cans...

But I think something a bit more refined would look better on my Limited.

Thats what I was thinking...even though the Helix CBE is a quality piece. The welds were perfect, fitment was spot on, and the shine was great...it reminded me of an exhaust that you would put on a Skyline or a Supra...to me that was badass. I still like it and the way it looks...I just also think its time for change.
