Holy ****. That's certainly a step up!!! Congrats dude! you should have given me your brakes

That being said...get an exhaust on that V10 immediately. It would growl SOOOOOOOOOO nicely.

Wow, that's a huge jump over the WRX! I'll bet that's a thirsty devil. My coworker's RS4 V8 gets 12-13 mpg around town. It sounds great, though.

Sorry to see the wrx go. Looks like you found a nice replacement to say the least, however.

Good luck with the new car. I am sure it will serve you well

Actually... it is EPA rated at 21mpg highway.

However... at 65-70 mph on the highway driving it home..... I was averaging between 24-25mpg. I imagine much like any car..... if you keep your foot out of it, it will be much more efficient.

I have tested the WRX numerous times on cross-country drives. At 80mph.... over multiple fill-ups...... I consistently got 22.9 mpg on the highway.

I actually think the V10 in this thing is slightly more fuel efficient than the WRX. Perhaps because it doesn't have to work as hard as the little 4 cylinder?? with any increase in boost (going up hills)..... the fuel pressure jumps up. The Audi barely notices that there is a hill at all.

Time will tell the "specifics".... but I really don't think I'm going to change my gas spending habits much at all.

    Wowza! Great car and congrats!

My hunch on my bad gas mileage compared to larger engined vehicles is that the relatively low torque in the 4 cylindar causes us to gas it from the start (we all know we like fairly fast starts), as we don't get the benefits of the turbo right off the bat, where as in a larger displacement engine you are getting much more torque right from the get go.

    Have fun in that beast!

    Awesome dude! Sweet car!

I had the same sentiments about why I got rid of mine.

Thanks all... I appreciate the support.

Got her home from St. Louis. I've officially determined that she gets a "little" bit better gas mileage on the highway than the WRX.... and a little bit worse in town. Overall though, I was correct - my gas spending habits have not changed much at all.... not enough to where I could even tell you the exact difference.

I'm still figuring out all the features. Some of them are so advanced... it is rediculous:
1: Proximity sensors - the car will lock, set the alarm, and even unlock when I come back... all without touching the key fob. Then the engine starts with a button. I NEVER have to take the key fob out of my pocket. Bizarre.
2: Back-up camera with head-up display on the dash screen - weird. I still can't get used to trusting it. I still look over my shoulder.
3: Adaptive airbag suspension - watching the car "squat" and raise back up is truly bizarre.
4: The 14-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system.... is just.... amazing. I can honestly say I've never personally heard a car stereo with as much clarity... ever. Eack speaker has it's own dedicated amplifier: Do read: http://www.germancarblog.com/2006/07...major-car.html

Anyway... I am still getting used to it..... and loving the dramatic change.

Got her all cleaned up... a few new pics for those that are interested:

    Agreed.... it would sound amazing.

However, exhaust systems are not NEARLY as readily available, or as inexpensive as they are for Subarus. A simple (but still quality) catback system for an Audi S8 V-10 starts around $2500.

    Someday... perhaps.
