I say do both..... Get subaru to fix them...... AND get a set of coils

If youre going to have a dedicated set of track wheels and tires... I say go all out and get slicks.

If you want a really good all around tire for everything.... I loved my nitto nt05s, as they were good in the rain too.

Lots of folks run the star specs though... Nice alternative

I gotta give props out to cyberdyne gauges. Best customer service I've come across in years. When I bought the two cyberdyne pre and post intercooler intake temp gauges, I bought them from a second-rate ebay seller. They were new, but one of them showed up, and one of the pixels was half burnt out. It "worked", (still does) but eventually the pixel burnt out completely in the center position of the 3rd digit. For example, It could be reading 80 degrees, or 88 degrees, and I couldn't tell the difference.

Cyberdyne (the company)... agreed to replace it.... no questions asked. No receipt required. For all they know, the gauge was 10 years old. They just said mail to to them, and they would replace it.... no problem.

Not only that, but theylet me pick the color I wanted, which was not available when I bought it, so instead of amber for both gauges, I chose red for the pre intercooler temp (the hot side), and stuck with amber for the post intercooler temp (the cold side)

Then.... before I even mailed the old one to them..... they sent me the new one, just based upon our phone conversation. It arrived today. How freekin cool is that??

Just pulled the trigger on a set of Federal SS595s as my new DD tires for my 17s.

260 treadwear - decent grip.... great reviews.... good in the rain..... and they look pretty decent too.

Dirt cheap. How can you argue?

255/40/17s..... under $400 shipped to my door.

Anyone used them before? I'm sure they'll be fine for DDs... just curious. I read a LOT of great reviews, figured they were worth a shot.

I'm so glad I decided to switch.... no sense rolling around on Rotas when I've got a set of Works sitting in the garage. Plus, even though they are shorter, they are wider.... and give the car a much more aggressive appearance.

With a trip to/from Vegas in 2 weeks (900 miles)

A trip to St. Louis in 1.5 months (1300 miles)

and a trip to TX immediately following (600 miles)

..... and over 100hp more than stock.... for 40K miles..... on a car with 55K miles..... that is track-raced regularly

I figure I'm on "borrowed time" with my still-stock clutch. Plus, I plan on going the 20G/750cc route once I move down to TX... which will bring me from the current 290-ish whp range to the 350-ish whp range.

Just got off the phone with Rallysportdirect..... pulled the trigger on an Exedy Stg 1 organic clutch.

Clutch shudder is unacceptable for a DD... and I like the fact that it is essentially a "stock" clutch, with significantly more clamping load, made by the same people that make the stock clutch.... so I figured it was a good sound investment, a good upgrade, and I can still retain my daily-driverability.

Clutch install pics coming in the next few weeks!!!!

So I did a buddy's VF39 install yesterday.... which ended up being a nightmare... but it's done.

Cool guy that he is..... hooked me up with a new Samco 7-piece hose kit. I was like "cool, thanks". Didn't think much of it.... until I realized Rallysport sells this kit for $185.

WTF?? $185? I would NEVER spend that much money on a couple of stupid silicon hoses.
