Ok.... Its just about midnight...... and I've been working on this thing for 2 days..... but all that is left is the alignment.

Got the rear done first, mostly yesterday.....

    The trailing arms/rear suspension

Check out the wheel gap.... with the car JACKED UP:

Then I didn't know exactly where to put the front today when I started on it..... so I dropped them pretty far down.

Yea..... oops...... not looking to go "hellaflush" - LOL

I took pictures because I thought it was funny Although I'm sure there's a few folks that think I should have left it like this. I'm sure it's "dope" or "phat" or "tyte" or "sick", or "epic" or something - LOL

    YIKES!!!!!!!!!!!

So..... I raised it up a bit..... just under an inch.... which gives it a much nicer stance..... and levels out the A-arms as well.

    So...... I'm tired

I took one last pic....... I jacked up the car right behind the front wheel.... only a little over an inch.

Check out the REAR wheel in the pic.

    THAT.... is a suspension

So I had it aligned yesterday.... and had the opportunity to drive it a few miles to and from the shop.

I officially own the most uncomfortable car on the planet - LOL I thought my kidneys were going to explode.

Perhaps I shouldn't have left the struts on full-hard?? LOL

Nevertheless, The guy that did the alignment owns an 06 WRX wagon..... that can stand a quarter between the ground and his front lip..... it is THAT low. He also works on another buddy's 06 WRX with over $100K invested into the car.

He set all 4 corners at zero toe.... and set the camber at negative 2 degrees at all 4 corners. He also centered out the tophats so I have some adjustability, so I "can" go all the way to negative 4 degrees of camber if I wanted to.

I installed 5mm spacers on all 4 corners before I brought it to him. Those Hoosiers just were not going to fit under there without them. It ended up working out for the best though, because the Alignment is SPOT-ON and the car tracks beautifully.

So I guess we'll see how I do at the lap battle on October 30th at Miller Motorsports Park!!!

    Wish me luck tomorrow!!!

Miller Motorsports Park outer loop - 3 miles:
    http://www.millermotorsportspark.com...uterCourse.jpg

I’ve raced the east course a few times (turns 10-23)…. Never run the whole west side of the track though.

I’ll hit at least 140mph before I have to start braking for turn 1…… Turn 5 is going to take some effort though.. that one scares me.

And I (and my car) personally know what it is like to “lose it” and slide off the track on turns 16 and 21… those are UGLY.

Here’s the folks I’m racing against (I’m # 14)… A couple of Lotuses, a couple Porsches, a corvette, GT500, 350Z, M3… lots of other folks out there… and quite a few more Subies as well. I’m only “technically” competing against the AWD cars in race class (I can’t run street class due to my Hoosier tires and lack of a catalytic converter)… but I’m certain I will be comparing my times with everyone. Driver #1 will undoubtedly whoop me… he’s a professional and wins almost every time he participates….. Driver # 27 is a close friend, and very equally matched… so he is the guy I really want to beat.

I'll see if I can get some pics or video

good luck with the race, sorry to hear about the kidneys. do you need the harness bar when your race??? or just a helmet. i was curious to what type of equipment they mandate to run. I know with drag racing the faster the ET the more equipment ie racing straps, cages, and shoots

    Thanks all!!!!

Kidneys are ok.... once I set the coils on soft... although admittedly, even on full soft it's still pretty brutal. I guess it just takes some getting used to. These aren't eBay BC coilovers.... these things are business. Once this race is over, I'm thinking about buying a set of epic springs to replace my eibachs.... and just putting the stock suspension back on. as long as I mark the camber bolts, I can have the coilovers back on and aligned in under 2 hours.

Racing seats, harnesses, etc are only required if you have a roll cage. I do not. Helmet is (of course) required.

Battery has to be tied down, insulated, in a box if you don't have a sealed type battery (I have an optima yellow). No cracks in the windshield, no leaks, no bald tires... just a basic safety inspection.

Of course, you MUST attend the drivers meeting where they lay out all the rules, otherwise they won't let you on the track

I'm all packed up... looks like its up to 37 cars now... more Porsches and Lotuses.

Calling for rain at 3pm... which is right when the final (and most important) session starts... hopefully it holds out.... otherwise I guess we'll see how my el-cheapo Falken all-seasons do on the track - LOL

All is well... I had SO much fun. If you haven't participated in road racing or Auto X-ing... it is an absolute blast.

Long story short.... 10th out of 41 competitors in the 3rd session. My fastest time was a 2:17. The fastest guy out there got a 2:08... and he showed up in a brand new, factory racecar (Lotus two-eleven). I suppose if you can afford to spend $70,000 on a non-street legal racecar from the factory... you deserve to win a few races

The good news..... is that I think I was the fastest person on the track, that had air conditioning and a rear seat - LOL I think only 3 or 4 of them were even licensed to be driven on the road.

    #1 was the Lotus two-eleven
#2 was a full-race prepped, gutted, gaged, plexiglass windshield EVO
    #3 - A porsche 911 (not sure of specifics)
#4 - Fully gutted, caged STI
#5 - Fully race prepped, and SPONSORED VW GTI
#6 - Another raced prepped EVO, owned by Solid Autoworks
#7 - My friend - gutted, caged STI on 10k and 12k coils
#8 - Honda Civic - CRAZY modded race prepped civic
#9 - Ford Focus - sponsored, bought new, gutted, never seen a legal road.
#10 - a daily driven 06 WRX, with A/C and cruise control...... with the child car seat removed before the race

I think I was 5th in my class.... so I wouldn't have been allowed to compete in the 4th session anyway (only the top 3 per class)... but I'm thinking about all the cars that I beat... the Porsches, the other Lotuses, the Corvette, the other STIs and EVOs, the M-series BMWs, the S2000s... and everyone else..... and I'm pretty happy with that Makes all the work I've done seem worthwhile.

..... Now if I just had a "wee" bit more hp....... 20g, 850cc, FMIC...... coming soon I'm actually thinking about welding on a catalytic converter.... buying some Yokohama Advan A048 "street" tires.... and entering (and sandbagging) street class next time Hey.... it IS an actual street car... I drive it every day... would that be dishonest?

My transponder didn't work in the first session, so I have no times.

    I was 12th in the 2nd session
    http://www.mylaps.com/results/showrun.jsp?id=1741200

and of course, 10th in the 3rd session:
    http://www.mylaps.com/results/showrun.jsp?id=1741201

The reason I only did 6 laps instead of 7???? I TORCHED my front brake pads... down to the bare metal. Even if i had placed 3rd in my class... I was done for the day. 18 minutes into session 3..... pedal went to the floor, and all I heard was this excrutiating sound of bare metal.

I took the pic below.... sent them to Rallysportdirect.... but of course..... no one keeps Rotora pads in stock.....

I drove home 40+ miles...... without ever touching the brake pedal... I used the tranny to slow me down... and the ebrake to catch me at stoplights - LOL That's how pimp I am - LOL

I'll post pics as soon as Rallysportdirect or Miller Motorsports Park decide to post them on their websites.

I'll go ahead and exit with this beautiful photo - LOL Yes, this is the PAD side.... My balls actually hurt when I look at this photo.

    Thanks!!

Yea... the rotors have some grooves. I think they'll be ok for DD... I'll have to replace them before the next track event though. Once I heard them go.... I didn't touch the brake pedal again... so the damage is minimal.

Still... totally worthwhile though. Best fun you can have..... better than sex

Cruisin in the Brat till I get some new pads!! LOL

    Congrats on the result!
My parents had a 73 911rs when I was a kid and the brakes went out around 100milles from home. My mom drove the whole way home without the brakes. I was very impressed.
