I pay $190 per month for full coverage (liability, comprehensive, and collision) on all 3 Subies. (USAA)

Zero tickets or accidents for the past 5 years. I'm 34, the wife is 30.

Although, the WRX costs more than the Tribeca and the SVX combined. If I recall, an STI would be about $30-$40 per month more than the WRX

The Brat will only get basic liability once I get it on the road.... but it will only be like an additional $10.

Thats why I'm wondering if I'm paying too much. I have the one car, $0 deductable comprehensive, $500 deductable collision and Life Insurance. I had my old car for five years and never got pulled over or in a wreck with it. Maybe I am paying too much...I don't know.

There are a ton of variables. Age, gender, location, history, even your credit! Also, the WRX and STi was rated one of the worst cars to insure recently.

You also live in Saudi Aurora. lol jk what part of Aurora you in man? Some parts aren't so good.

Ha! Saudi Aurora fits better than you would think! I live near Southlands area. In fact a couple months ago I came to my car one morning and found the hood popped. Then I found all the doors unlocked and ignition pieces on my driver seat. Let me tell ya....worst feeling in the world!

Call around man..... the prices I mentioned above are with $100 deductibles, not $500.

So.... I ordered an SPT Heat shield for my car from a guy off NASIOC... selling it for $50 shipped.

Not too bad..... had a little cash..... figured I'd add a little bling to the top side of the turbo. Whatever..... it looks cool.

So..... last night an SPT heat shield shows up in the mail.

Except it's an INTAKE heat shield.... not a TURBO heat shield.

Oops.... just goes to show you how important pictures are (he didn't have any.... the ad just said it was NEW.... which it is.

Anyway..... I have an SPT intake..... and I didn't have the INTAKE heat shield...... so I figured what the hell.... Might as well slap it on there. This art is actually more expensive than the turbo heat shield..... so not all is lost.

Anyway..... SPT INTAKE heat shield installed today

Looks nice. You can hear a lot more whoosing air sounds when you engage then throttle...especially at wide open. I used to have the same setup, then I moved to the APS 65mm. Still get the air rush sound just not as loud.

Couple pictures from this past Saturday's Winter-X event at Miller Motorsports Park..... once again... dominated by SLCSUBARU.com

Just about the stupidest damn thing I've ever done. Most of us figured the track would clear as more cars raced. Nope.... just turned the snow to ice.

Riding on half-worn stockers.... I didn't stand a chance against the guys with snow tires.... but I had an absolute BLAST.Proud to say.... didn't take out any cones, didn't spin out.... and (thank God)... I didn't wreck

More to follow..... 2 weeks away..... Rotora Front BBK... and STI Brembos on the rear.... custom powdercoated in Azure Blue

    Anyway... here's the pics:

^^^^ Looks like you had alot of fun. Good job on keeping it off the cones with semi-bald stockers.

Oh yea... there were some RWD guys out there.

Well, in "spirit" they were out there.... didn't work out so well for them though

I saw a Corvette literally get stuck in an ice patch..... at the starting line.. He had to be PUSHED onto the track - LOL

There was a guy in a Miata that thought he was Ken Block.... drifting around every curve..... I lost count of how many cones he took out though.

STIs, EVOs, AWD Porsches, we were running high 3-minute times. (I race in the Super AWD class with them). The N/A AWD guys were running mid 3 minute times.... several of them had beefy snow tires. It all boiled down to who had the best tires for the event.

The RWD guys were like 6-minutes or more - LOL

The big winner of the day?? A bare-bones, no frills, 2008 Impreza 2.5 with snow tires. At least it was a Subie

Nice...I wish I could get into that stuff. I don't have the money for it though. I also have a bare bones Z with just a CBE on it which doesn't speak for much improvement. I wouldn't offer much competition unless based on driver ability alone.

So you're stepping up to a BBK? The WRX 4-pots no longer cutting it?

That event was a whopping $60... for about 2-3 hours of track time. All of the WinterX events are that price. I try to get EVERYONE to come out.

During the Summer, the lap battles are $150... but that includes paid workers working the track (I worked the track when not driving this weekend)... plus trophies... plus ALL DAY of track time.

You'd be amazed at how many stock cars come out just to have fun, test their driving... and just "mingle"

I wish we weren't snowed upon.. but I still had a blast..

Yes... last year at the Lap Battle.... those 20-minute sessions on the track FRIED my brakes. Those 4-pots are great, but they are the rally spec brakes... not road racing brakes.

I'm trading all 4 of them for a Rotora 14' drilled/slotted 4-piston BBK + cash. The owner wants to downsize to smaller wheels for rally, and these won't fit. I'll be in San Diego in under 2 weeks, and I'm making the swap while I'm there (cause something like that, you have to "see" before buying).

I'm IMMEDIATELY buying a set of rear STI brembos, and a set of drilled/slotted DBA 2657 rotors (so my stock e-brake will work with STI brembos). I'm tearing them apart, and sending them straight off to the powdercoater..... All 4 are getting "Azure Blue"..... About the same color as "RedBull blue". I like it because it's different than WRX red... different than STI gold..... and it will match my STI interior..... and the upcoming Blue Cusco 6-pt cage (in the future).

Oh.... and the supertones are getting a coat of blue too.

... and EVERYTHING will match... because it's no big secret that I hate tint..... so you can see everything inside and out.

I cannot stand advertising aftermarket parts on my car.... I hate it when people put stickers and logos all over cars that aren't sponsored. I have a 2-inch thick book of receipts and documentation... all my stickers go on that.

Neither Rotora nor Brembo is paying me to put their parts on my car...... so I had custom bright silver decals, made up by the guy that does all our site stickers, with the SPT logo, for both the front and rear calipers. I don't mind advertising Subaru. Plus.... I'll be the only guy on the planet with an "SPT" Big Brake kit - LOL

I'll post pics when I get them home.... plus the teardown, the powdercoating, and the rebuild (if necessary).

    Official results were listed today.

5th place out of 13 in the Super AWD class.... with half-worn stockers in the snow???

I'm pretty pleased with that. Plus, look at the cars I'm classed against Man, if I just had a beefy set of snow tires..... there's no telling how well I would have done
