Any warranty period is worthless if you have to deal with someone like SOA denying your service. Luckily I haven't had any issues with the Subie (knock on wood). Then again, I haven't had any issues with the GTO either (again knock on wood).

Anyway, the you have to remember with your WRX, ninefourteener, is yes, you could have bought an STI, but now you have a car that is tailored made to your liking and your having a great time modding it.

That's the way I look at it for my "project" anyway...
I would love a GTO. Which is faster would you say, your GTO or your WRX? That's it I'm looking up a GTO now lol I wouldn't be surprised if those idiots at the dealer put that clunker-killer stuff into my car while I wasn't looking Better go change my oil quick!

Damn Colin sorry to hear about all the issues you have had with your wrx Knock on wood my sti has been great for me (i am at only 37K) but it runs like a dream. The only issue I have had is the suspension creeking, which I cant stand

I hear you, warranties are good for sales....this is true. You make a valid point. Like I stated I am not necessarily "anti-american" auto but more very selective and picky. No offense Pavia, but I hate the new GTOs, very heavy cars and they look nothing like the "goats" of the old days. I know I know change is inevitable and sometimes it works out (new model stang vs 2000 model) and sometimes not (2008 sti)

In regards to the dealerships, yeah they are pretty much all asswipes. All they want is the commission, they dont care about your situation at all. Private sellers are generally better.

The GTO is definitely faster. It just made the C/D magazine list of best used cars for $20k. Funny, since all they did was bash them when they first came out.

Compared to the new models coming out (like the Challenger and Camaro), the GTO is almost a lightweight at ~3700lbs.

As far as it not looking like the original Goat, well that's just ridiculous. What made the '60s GTO such a great car was not it's looks. It was the concept of squeezing a big V8 into a mid-sized car, with ground-shaking acceleration as the result. In this, the later GTO succeeds in spades and gains being called a true musclecar. If you don't care for the looks based on there own merits, well I can certainly understand that. However, it being a kind of "sleeper" in the looks category has been a plus to me at times. Hey we all know Pontiac has done a lot worse to other cars in the appearance category (like putting the LeMans badge on a Korean economy car or <gulp> the Aztec)

Then again, it really is a Holden import from Aussie and not a Pontiac

BTW, you'll find the same problem as the WRX when looking for a used Goat. Namely trying to find one that hasn't been beaten to crap...

I'm buying one more car in 2013 when the Fiat 500 Abarth comes to America.

Sometimes.... Usually the car itself attracts attention from the local hon-duh owners..... until they get a bit closer...... and all of a sudden they aren't interested anymore.

I don't streetrace at all anymore.... its just stupid. There's a local multi-billion dollar track nearby.

But when one of them gets all squirrely, I just rub my fingers together as if to say "wanna put some $$ on it"

Not one..... ever..... has said yes--LOL

Cops.... sometimes..... but I have an override/kill switch in the car that will override the headlight switch and turn them all off...... works well when its foggy outside too.

Special thanks to "Kentrick" on NASIOC and SLCSUBARU.com for not only giving me a good deal on the seats...... but also helping with the install.

Just in case you were wondering whether or not you could backdate STI seats from an 06-07 WRX with the weight-sensitive passenger seat airbag....... you can.

With the exception of the actual airbag itself..... we swapped 100% of the electronics over between the seats...... 4 plugs with harness under the driver seat.................. 3 plugs + harness + control module + water-filled bladder-pillow thingy under the passenger seat.

Everything..... without exception.... works 100% perfectly

airbag light comes on for a few seconds when the car is started.... then turns off.

passenger side airbag reads "off" when empty.... as soon as I sat in the pass seat.....it turned on...... 100% perfect.

Just in case you've been reading the NASIOC threads about how to do this..... filled with information about "tricking" the ecu to turn off the airbag light with stupid resistors.... or taking off the covers to remove the airbag assembly...... don't. No sense in doing it the "wrong" way.... when the right way is just as easy.

And of course....... they look great..... Thanks again Kent!!

(still a bit damp from steamcleaning)

Well, I suppose after 3 years, one of my gauges is bound to fail.

Wasn't actually the gauge..... but the tubing for the oil pressure. The connection point right on the block..... eventually started disintegrating. I peeked up under the alternator, and sure as hell, there was oil residue all over the fitting.

I also noticed an oil smell..... and a decrease in pressure. At a HOT idle, I was about 19psi. I think that is within the factory standards, but it seemed a bit low.

So.... headed to Pep Boys... picked up an Autometer COPPER tubing kit, and a few extra fittings. I only replaced the first 2.5 feet or so..... just enough to get the line away from the heat of the block. The rest of the line I reused. Pressure at HOT idle - 25psi

This should keep it from leaking anymore
