Yea, the "kit" is really just a new filter, wiring harness, and a little piece of fuel line. That's the little baggy in the first picture.

What can I say? All my parts came in..... I have an autocross coming up in under 2 weeks.... and they were just staring at me...... so I got em all in this afternoon. Total job was about 3 hours, including replacement of the rear seatback and cleanup.

The rear strut brace was a PITA..... I got the strut tops on, but then couldn't get the support beam in.... had to loosen everything back up to get it to fit together.

The front strut brace.... took about 15 minutes... start to finish.

The undercarriage brace.... maybe 30 minutes.... and that's including putting a 5-foot long pipe on the end of my 1/2 drive ratchet and using her for "leverage" to get those 2 rear bolts off.... I got em though.

I gotta say.... the car feels a lot better...... It's not one specific thing that I can put my finger on..... the whole car just feels "better"

    steering is "sharper"

Rear "squishiness" has been dramatically reduced

The "return steer" from a turn seems to want to do itself... almost like the car is trying to go straight again.... it's nice.

It's QUIETER.... I never realized I had so many little "creeks" and "squeeks"...... until they weren't there anymore.... I can actually HEAR the tires now.

Bumps......seem more "firm".. yet happen quicker, and return to a smooth ride quicker.... no more "floatiness" a second or two after bumps... it just recovers immediately.

Greddy front strut bar - $136 shipped

eBay undercarriage brace - $31 shipped

eBay rear strut bar - $23 shipped

Total - $190 shipped to my door..... worth every penny.

And I even got a free eBay front strut brace because the seller accidentally sent me a "set" instead of just the rear!!

And just FYI... the eBay strut towers that everyone claims are such poor quality??? I had it sitting right next to the greddy strut brace..... The greddy in one hand, and the eBay in the other...... it's the same thing.. same weight.... same rigidity.... same thing.

    GFB 50/50 recirculating BOV.

It does NOTHING for the car... at all.... and it's a $400 BOV.

I bought it used on eBay for $90... thinking I'd try it out.... If I didn't like it, I could always resell it.

It doesn't mess up the idle, or cause backfiring though like many BOVs, because it's a recirculating model.

I actually did a writeup quite a few pages back when I installed it..... I admit, I like the sound.... but if you're looking for performance gains... look elsewhere.

Now.... when I do my 20G upgrade in a couple months.... I'll be boosting probably 22-23 lbs... so I'll definitely need it then.

I would not recommend to anyone to go over 300whp on the stock tranny. With that said.... if you drive like an asshat, you can break the tranny on a stock car.

The only reason I feel comfortable going with a 20G after using the VF39 setup for 2 years.... is because I'm a pretty easy driver. I do not drop clutches.... I don't miss shifts...... I'm extremely cautious with 3rd gear.... and I generally don't display random acts of douche-baggery on the road.

Is 340whp a risk? absolutely..... but driven responsibly, I think I'll be ok. You gotta pay to play though.... and if I break my tranny.... I won't whine about it.... I'm prepared to buy a new one.

A VF39 setup has been just fine for me for the past 2 years.... I think you'll be ok.... again... it all boils down to the driver though. After 25K miles with a VF39.... my tranny fluid still looks new. If you blow your transmission... you have no one to blame but yourself.

I 'm still on the stock tranny, but I try to take it easy. I'm definitely planning on upgrading, but I'm undecided between the 6spd, PPG's, or if I can make do w/ RA gears.

Actually, I'm hoping the stock clutch would go before the gears let go...

RAs are no stronger than your stock gears.... they are just geared differently.

PPGs are awesome, and stand up to amazing abuse.... but they can get pretty irritating to listen to and deal with in a DD car. Plus, to a perspective buyer.... they really don't increase the value of your car much... particularly considering what they cost.

However, an STI 6-speed is a HUGE incentive for a potential buyer, and will DRASTICALLY raise the value of your car, especially if you find a setup with the brembos included.

The 6-speed will hold a LOT of power.... it's easier to deal with on a daily basis.... and it improves the value of your car.... For me... it's a better choice.... and also in my future plans.

Yeah, but there's a lot of other stuff to go with the 6spd. After everything it's about the same price as the PPG's.

Then you have to install it. Oh, you'll probably want a stronger clutch. Then you need new rims, cause the 5x100s won't fit. Dccd controls. If you want the dccd lights on the dash, then that's a another cluster. You'll probably want to use new pads...etc, etc.

I still think it's a great way to go, but nothing is ever easy I guess.

I'd actually like to go with the PPG's. I live reasonably close to Andrewtech and I think I could get a nice setup w/ a better clutch and LSD for around $6K installed.

The only thing I do wonder about is, yes, the noise. I'm looking at helical gears so I hope they would be livable. I loud whine that drowns out everything in the cabin would be unacceptable, but to live with just another tone would be fine.

Heck, my Nur Blitz is quiet to me

Man, I love your ride. I remember a while back saving certain pics and saying to myself "this is what I want my car to look like". It's an '06 right? I always wondered why the interior a/c and heating controls look like they're from like the 02 and 03 models or something? I don't know? Cuz here's what my '05 looks like:
