06 STI less Hp + Tq than 04/05

I may be getting an 06 Sti because i got into an accident avoiding a deer in my 04WRX and i noticed that the 06 Stis have 293and 290tq while the 04/05s have 300hp and 300tq....how come the 06+ have lower numbers...is it just underrated or what

The SAE changed the hp/tq rating regulations.

I'm assuming you meant 298 and 290.

Yea its just the SAE rating system. just about every japanese car lost HP/TQ and domestics gained some.

It means nothing. the 06/07 is as fast as the 04/05

you would never notice the power difference. just an SAE rating.

the 293hp is for 2007 STIs, not the 2006's if i remember correctly. I will double check though.

EDIT: confirmed...the 2007 STI models have the 293hp SAE rating and the 2006's have the 300hp rating.

well it happened at 230 friday morning as i was on my way driving from Pa to Az for my job...i was 7 miles N of Roanoke Va....honestly i love my car...its stage 2 and had everything i wanted on it except wheels and tires...stage 2, sti suspension and gauges...i really hope it can be fixed but the car suffered some exterior damage and visible suspension damage as the wheels where ****ed from sliding and the rear tire blew durning the slide which caused us to crash so there will be more suspension damage at that corner...but obviously the car will never drive like it did so thats why i am kinda hoping it is totalled...plus i will get more money for it rather than the little i would get once its fixed and traded it in
