So I just got my accessport finaly on my car with 111k and after almost 3 years of ownership so I decided to do my own personal review of it.
mind you my car needs an air fuel ratio sensor so my data logs looked like absolute crap, but come on...who cant help but play with it once you get it?
I don't think its helping my fuel trimming (thankfully my exhaust does smell like sweet fuel)
first time out, overboosting on stage 1 ACN91 by about 2.4...tried LWG and got within boost target range so then I decided to log and get a better overall feel for this thing...boosted to 18.4 again but noticed my clutch slips and the data logs show peak boost in conjunction with the slippage so im hoping its just clutch issue. I did burn it quite a bit today trying to rush through traffic after doing a lunch run for work and didn't realize I did until after getting out of the car
so im giving it a few weeks before 3rd gear WOT again to see if any glaze works itself off and all is well
so I have to say im absolutely amaze with how smooth boost feels now but I am disappointed abviously due to the slippage
Actually if someone could explain in a bit further detail of what to lookf for in possible knock situations then what cobbs website shows id appreciate it
my DAM is 1 through the log by the way but showing feedback knock and fine knock learning at full (over for me) boost. I don't want to risk doing another WOT until the A/F sensor gets here and installed just incase its screwing it up
Cobb website.
You want to trac AF learning one
DAM
Fine knock learn and feedback knock.and boost.
Those are the common readers.
Cobbs website will give the levels you should watch.
ya I gotta go back into my AP. I left only those on but for some reason it logged a bunch of others as well. my DAM is locked at 1 which if I remember correctly is pretty much exactly where you want it, but fine knock shows multiple corrections around peak boost which I don't know is clutch related as the map isn't supposed to boost that high? or if its due to the bad A/F sensor
ive got a basic understanding of what im looking at though
I feel special lol
No not yet.
I'll wait til my stock one wears out.
That and my factory brakes, will need replacing.
Right now I got to finish my bushings, and fix the clunk.
You should start a build thread, always a good thing.
I was thinking about it but I don't know how much longer I'm going to have this car and I'm pretty much done with the mods because I want to put my money into an affordable monthly payment on the next. Was thinking the 4th gens but I just got the accessport, don't want to have to buy another one so I might stick with a later model 3rd...latest with whichever doesn't have the engine troubles
You're also doing the exedy oem replacement right? So it should hold up for stage 2 levels with no problem as long as you're not launching the car and burning it away?
I swear since I bought the car the clutch has been binding. Just feels like crap. Like when you depress the clutch it doesn't feel like you push through the friction point ( where you depress and you feel pressure then to the floor it feels like the pressure is gone) mine is just stiff the whole way through
Alright I know that this is very cheap and one might say "ghetto rigged" but maybe I could use exhaust wrap to attempt to seal the inlet better? If it works for exhaust leaks maybe it could hold up for a few weeks until I can get the perrin inlet
Haha this should be my what I did in the subie world today thread
I'm not gonna lie, I was out chasing a few thunderstorms and at one point running away from hail I couldn't resist another pull. This time not data logging but 2nd to third gear WOT with no slippage
Alright replaced my sensor, CEL gone...always a good thing. Hopefully it is a legit OEM part like parts geek said it is ..see what happens in about 50 miles
Still gotta fix the inlet. Sucks not having a paycheck
Unfortunately found a small drop of oil in my coolant reservoir with residual on the sides all the way to the brim almost of the reservoir. Now ever since I owned the car I've never filled it past the full mark and it has never been past the full mark even at operating temps. Car runs fine, not smoking other then cold starts if I'm being stupid and giving it a quick rev, then it's blue smoke from the blow by
No overheating issues, heater works as it should blowing hot, exhaust smells like fuel but has been since stage 1 so I'm really hoping it's the turbo seals and the oil blow by is mixing there
only during throttle, theres never smoke when idling and its only this bluish grayish color.
also when i got my themostat and water pump done with the timing belt so im sure Subaru used their coolant additive crap. this oily stuff around the filler neck isn't it is it?
Be a bit of a while before I can get to the clutch if it's not slipping from the overboost
Getting the turbo inlet asap though. Looking for the perrin inlet, stock air filter
On a better note some researching (googling) leads me to believe the brown gunk is from the coolant conditioner
ok the bottom one was the first run, top is the second.
get this. up until today the car was running fine, then today tried some logs and after the first pull things started happening. DAM kept droping...again never dropped before today...and the top log shows im running wastegate pressure.
need some ideas of issues. I just filled up on terrible Arizona 91 so thinking bad batch of fuel?
inlet? (been torn for a while and logs showed fine up until today)
or possible failing boost solendoid?
no CEL
Also I want to point out that I did run up to redline both times and don't know why the logs don't show it
Anyone have a clue why the air fuel learning doesn't change. ..and in the first run (and the bottom of the post up there) the DAM increases back to 1 then drops again?
They are visible too right? I know I changed them so anyone with the link can view
Update:
Replaced the inlet after too long of an install. Do not want to do it again. The car is holding boost where it should at 16 psi where I was hitting 18.4 and 19 *I miss that power though *
Anyway...
My problem now is the vacuum line on the bpv snapped off (go figure) doesn't seem to affect anything other then at idle it runs lean but driving afr look like they should
Other problem is that the valve doesn't come out. One of the screws are stripped in and does t come out.
So anyone have an idea to get the valve off? I'd like to just replace the valve instead of buying a valve and intercooler
