    2011+ STI turbo / '04 WRX

Well, I own a 2004 JBP Wrx, car has 90,XXX miles, no modifications other than a BOV.
I was going threw my local Craigslist (South Miami,FL) found a 2011+ STI turbo,
with only 10,000 miles on it as the owner says.
I found it for a great price, I was planning on buying it and sending it to a shop to have it checked on..

I was just wondering, since I'm pretty much a newb, and not many people in my area own WRX/STI
if you guys had any tips, opinions, what to do / what not to do about this..

    Thanks.

I'm sorry to say my friend.. what you are looking at is a vf52, which came on the WRX, not STi. It will make the same amount of power, but unfortunately it won't fit on your car.

It looks like it's in good shape. Get it checked out then start a swap thread.
You could Craigslist swap it to. Or just sell it and keep your eye out for the one you want.

That turbo won't fit on his car.

That's why I said to start a swap thread. Like people here do with their trunks.

Oh, well thanks for letting me know. I had no clue.
I was just looking for a new turbo, something bigger &
With a quicker spool. Plus, I wanted to get up pipe & down pipe
So when I put the new turbo in I can also put those in aswell.

    What about a TD06 20g ?
Or anything you guys can consider? Plug and play.

VF series turbo to a TD06 20G is a big jump. Can't recommend you something if you don't list what you are trying to do with the car. That is going to be a pretty laggy turbo and will require more mods then just slapping on a VF39/43/48.

Any larger turbo is going to spool slower. The quickest spooling turbo you will find is the td04 that's already on your car. I would expect a 20g to not spool up until at least 1000rpm later than your current turbo.. probably more like 1500rpm.

So what is it that you want, a bigger turbo, OR one with quick spool? You can't have both.. unless you replace the engine in your car I suppose. If you put a 2.5L engine in the car then you could run a VF turbo and have at least similar spool characteristics to the 2L with a td04.

Tha's not quite what I meant. Do you want to autocross the car or have a dyno queen? Two completely different goals. I personally would upgrade the brakes and suspension first before you even think about power.

Ehh.. It just doesn't make sense to me for him to buy a turbo he can't use, just so he can try to swap it with someone else.. and who would he swap it with? People with LGT fitment turbos like this one would probably have another LGT fitment turbo to swap, which once again, wouldn't fit his car. Not to mention, not many people would be looking to swap to a stock turbo.
