    2013 WRX Cold Air Intake

Hey guys! I'm thinking that soon it's time to mod under my hood. I want to start off with an intake then make my way up. I'm thinking about AEM, Cobb, or Perrin. Any suggestions? Do I need to tune? I want to eventually get a Cobb Tune but I'm 17 and not willing to drop $600 right now! So any help would be very much appreciated! Thanks guys

You should save up for an accessport if you're going to start modding

What does the accessport exactly do? Haven't really looked into it

Access Port allows you to read/write your ECU. Installing an intake without tuning the car for it can potentially cause engine failure.. so if you don't have $600 to spend for a tune I find it unlikely that you would have $6000 to replace the engine.

I'm not the most technology advanced with cars. What's it like?

Pretty simple just plug and play really. It allows you to switch to a different map based on your mods

Based on this statement I would keep it stock for now. Enjoy the car and save up.

It's like a cell phone.. but instead of making calls it plugs into your OBDII port and interfaces with your car's ECU.

This is where you should start. Save your money for an Cobb Access Port.
The most important thing is safety and stability. You can tune it for stage one and learn how that effects your car and your driving.
Your safety and the cars well being should be your top priorities. Be careful and have fun.
