    stage1 not working... PLEASE HELP

ok...I have no idea if this is the right place to post this thread....if not I apologize. .

anyway. I got my 2012 wrx brand new....I wanted to wait until after 20k miles before I went stage one. I spent money on other things like a boost gauge and a kn typhoon cold air intake. when ever I have decided to open it up....I would consistently hit 12 lbs psi....it was like clock work.

a lil over a week ago I bought an accessport. I did research on whether I could run cobbs map designed with their intske with a kn and after findinv out it was okay. I chose that map....I got in my car excited. ..ive read all the amazing things ppl have said bout going stage one....I take my car out for a spin and....its slow...I mean....very slow. ...it will only hit 5 lbs of psi at 5k rpms....and if I redline I barely hit 10. according to cobb I should be around 15...not to mention the turbo kicks in later. it feels laggy and my car is just slow now.....I tried the map for high wastegate....that made it slower. to make sure I wasbt just being crazy....I let my friend drive my csr which he has driven alot. I didnt tell him what I thought an he said same thing. slower....less boost. etc.

did I really pay 600 for this?? I shouldnt have to drop another 500 for a custom tune just to see a increase in performance from going stage one if I know im addinv more stuff soon an would jus5 have to retuen again...

oh heres the kicker. when I was going throigh an deleting the maps I was not going to use....I accidentally deleted my stock tune....so I cant even go back. if anyone had a 12 wrx sedan stock tune they could send me id love u forever...

but anyways....can anyone give me some insight on this??

p.s. took my car to shop to verify it wasnt a boost leak.

I am certainly not any authority on engine tuning. However, I do believe that the accessport is an incredible tool. If you use it to take datalogs then maybe you can get further validation that there is nothing mechanically wrong with your car.

Take some logs and post em up. What shop did you take it to? I'd still think there's a boost leak somewhere.

Why the heck did you start deleting maps??? That was tarded.

Also, what gear were you monitoring boost in? You won't see peak boost in all gears

What specific Cobb map did you use? The only intakes the Cobb maps are designed for are the Cobb SF or AEM intake. There is no map specifically for yours. The MAF scaling is probably all over the place. Initially, you shouldn't have been running an intake without a tune.

its the stage 1 91 octane +sf off the website....thats what i am running right now. i also tried that one with the high wastegate...

monitoring boost in first and 2nd gears only.

    i took it into subaru

i deleted all the california maps and the stage 2 maps and the 93 octane maps that just take up space...only wanted a few maps on there for quick and easy switches....got a little click happy i guess. honestly i didnt think my stock tune would show up on the program because it requires you to have it in the accessport.

i know that....but i did alot of research and several people who got the kn typhoon posted they called cobb and mentioned that they had the kn and asked if it would work and they said it would.

i honestly saw improvements in my car when i just went cold air without the tune...saw my gas mileage increase and it felt slightly quicker....or more responsive.

You didn't delete your stock tune. It's stored in an inaccessible part of the NAND on the AP. When you unmarry the AP, your stock tune will be restored. Go ahead, try it now!

I think it would be a wise scientific endeavor to flash back to stock as a comparison. If you are hitting stock boost, you know that the issue isn't likely mechanical. When flashing stage 1 again, use the HWG map that will add a bit more WGDC and TD during boost onset.

EDIT: I just realized you already tried the HWG map. This sounds like predominantly a mechanical issue. I am highly suspicious of a gross boost leak.

    I'd suspect a boost leak.

This is a good lesson to everyone who happens upon this thread: Correlation DOES NOT EQUAL causation! Too many people make assumptions that X caused Y because of circumstance. This is called heuristic analysis and is NOT scientific! Even though the events portrayed in this thread were correlated, it turns out that the AP is not the cause of the problem.
