    2004 wrx ej205 to ej207

Hi all, im new and just wanted some opinions/ideas for my new engine.

My 04 wrx engine just died (combo of negative temp days, wrong oil maybe, improper upgrading by previous owner..) anyway, that shenanigans aside- i decided to go the ej207 route instead of finding another ej205 oem.

The day the engine arrived, the shop informed me that this engine came with a twin scroll turbo. They asked if i want to go ahead with the instal and recommended a tomioka TS usdm fit downpipe and a catless bell mouth downpipe. They also want to do an open source dyno tune instead of the Cobb accessport route.

    Also a 76mm invidia q300 catback system
    -- aem cold air intake
    -- gates timing belt
-- they said a new uppipe is not needed

Any thoughts here, are these suggestions inline with what you guys have done?

    Thanks in advance!

Im in Pa, usa by the way

Pretty basic mods. As long as it's getting tuned it should be fine.

I'm assuming since it came with the turbo it also came with the twin scroll headers and up-pipe? Sounds like a pretty cool swap Gonna keep us updated?

Had the 4eat rebuilt and upgraded the clutch holding capacity. Also put in a shift timing kit to make it shift nice and firm. Loaded the AT roms from a jdm non sTi WRx. They didnt work correctly. Went back in and repinned the ecu/tcm to run the at load off the maf signal. Also repinned some wires to get the correct torque signals.

Car runs great now- very quick.

    Recap:::

    Downpipe
    Twin Scroll
    Cat back
    Air Intake

Are you running USDM ECU then?

Running the ej207 jdm 16bit ecu. It took alot of work to figure out... Usdm ecu would not control avcs so the extra work is well worth it

Im not sure the difference between the different transmissions, but there are extensive wiring tutorials on Nasioc? did you use those?

I have a 04 wrx and my motor went on me in January. I purchased a jdm Sti ver9 twin scroll motor and a ver8 jdm ecu to run the motor.

Came with stock downpipe which is bellmouthed. I gutted the cats and the downpipe is good to go until I can afford an aftermarket because of the twinscroll flange it so expensive.

The motor swap was done by me and a couple buddies in a garage in a weekend. Drive the car home Sunday morning.

The swap was completely direct bolt in!

I'm currently running the jdm ecu with the motor with no problems at all.

I will get it all tuned on that ecu and then get the usdm ecu tuned to force ready codes and save that for the emission testing.

The twinscroll is amazing! Love the torque low and high end!
