So I got my completely stock 1996 wrx a few weeks ago with no issues. Now my car has begun to play up whenever I'm driving in third after 4000rpm feels like it's jolting and doesn't boost smoothly. Please somebody help because this issue is getting progressively worse

    Bummer, sorry to hear that.

It is a bit of a crap shoot if you can't run any diagnostics. It sounds like maybe a fuel issue of which I'd guess bad gas is most likely. Otherwise maybe the fuel filter isn't up to it. I'd also look at the air filter and make sure all of the intake is sealed up tight. Check for splits in any of the hoses especially the turbo coupler. Are there ANY symptoms at other times?
