NEED SOME HELP PLEASE! My engine is making weird noises?

I have a 2005 wrx sti has 86k miles. When i start the engine it starts making this weird whining noise. Everytime its on idle or when i gas the pedal the whine will always be there. i searched online and im pretty sure it isnt the idler pulley but the black cover on the left side of the battery. can someone help me please? thanks

    video (warm start)

second video from cold start in the morning (its a a lot louder from a cold start)

The cover itself? Remove it and see.

If not: It sounds like a pulley but it's hard to tell online.

In the front of the engine there are two external belts with their pulleys and tensioners, driven by the central crank pulley. Nearest the battery is the A/C; on the other side is steering. The alternator is also driven.

Suspect either belt and any pulley or bearing. Remove the A/C belt, see if the pulleys have worn bearings, and consider running the engine safely to see if the noise goes away.

Replace with an authentic Subaru belt. Do not over tighten. If it's a pulley, unlike the belt you could use aftermarket; try NAPA.

There are DIY threads with instructions online if you need them.

Worst case is it's coming from under the front cover. If so take the car to a shop if you're unprepared to do a timing belt job (tensioner etc). I doubt it though and you have to troubleshoot externally first anyway, so see above.

ok thanks for the reply! i will try and trouble shoot by removing the a/c belt and hoping it isn't the timing belt =(

i post a second video of it from a cold start this morning, also removed the cover to determine where the sound was coming from. (but it seems to be around the black cover area next to the battery.) ill keep this updated while i try and remove it today and see. thanks again.

so iv been busy over the thanksgiving week, i started today and end up take out the power steering/alternator belt then test. CHECK! then i removed the a/c belt. AND THAT CHECKS OUT TOO!

so lastly it would be the timing belt. time to order myself a set and replace all the parts needed. lets hope that fixes the problem i am having...

So it makes the noise even with two external belts off? If so suspect timing belt tensioner or rollers.

Ok next regrettably is the front cover. Check that the marks line up firstly, then see if there is grease or wear signs from any of the bearings for any of the pulleys. See if you can visualize the problem before digging in.
