    What upgrade should happen first?

Driving an '04 wrx that is bone stock other than wheels and exhaust. What would be a good, cheaper, engine mod to start on to make it a little stronger car? I'm pretty new to the wrx game and i've read the uppipe likes to be a problem on these. Would that be a good upgrade? Is Perrin a good brand for these?

Check out Pepboys for "cheap" upgrades.
Or do as Drew said and search around. Pretty sure there is a thread stickied that is all about how to mod a Subaru.

PM mikie^ for some schweet stickers and sloots.

And check out the stickies. There's a thread titled "First mods: what to do and not to do." I think it should answer your question.

I'm not condoning the way Drews handled his post this morning (or his apparent bad attitude lately), but in his defense this does become frustrating with the same questions asked time-in and time-again.

My classic answer to you is "maintenance." That's your best first modification.

Next, I will point you to the following FAQ:
    Unabomber's Manifesto - NASIOC

I don't like linking out to another forum, but those links are very applicable to GD 2.0L WRXs.

Its just Drews. Orange italics is sarcasm font by the way.

Serious question. Do you know where/what the stickies are? I can link you to the thread I was talking about and several others that can get you started. And under every section of the forums, at the top will be the stickies. I suggest reading nearly all of them lol. We'll help you, but not everyone wants to spoon feed because these questions get asked countles times a week. That's why the stickies exist.

Go to NASIOC and see how long you last there.

You could always jump in with the sarcasm and nudez. Those are always welcome.

    Now you're learning!
In all seriousness: my recommendation is to look into any and every bushing kit you can find. These cars respond very well to them. The handling is night and day afterwards.

Lay out what you can afford, then look at the mods you can do.
