    Turbo tune?

    Hey guys...

I have a 02 wrx, just looking to mod the engine a bit. I was thinking of upgrading the turbo to a 20g but not sure yet. I wanted to know what is the maximum boost you can retune the stock turbo to without messing up the engine, and also is there a easy or more so cheaper way to retune the stock turbo with out having to drop like $500 ?? Easy way to flash the ecu maybe?

Flashing the ECU is easy and free.. but any tuner worth their time is going to charge you for their work. I have seen people run up to around 22psi peak on the stock td04, but it tapers off real fast because the turbo isn't large enough to flow that much air at higher rpm efficiently.

There's more to making power than just throwing boost at the engine.

Thanks guys, and what else would u suggest with the retune of the turbo? I'm going to be getting a turbo back exhaust pretty soon here as well, any other suggestions?

    Uppipe

Other than that, it depends on your budget...

Your stock turbo? Or a larger one?

Like EJ said, it depends on your budget. There are a lot of things that will help out a little bit, but your main restriction will be the size of your td04 so don't expect to see huge gains out of anything else.

After uppipe, turbo back exhaust, and a tune.. your best bang for buck power mod would be a bigger turbo, injectors, fuel pump, intercooler, and boost controller all together.
