What turbos are you referring to? Used stock turbos are pretty cheap.

Used stock turbos usually go for $300-$350.. there's lots of them out there, so you should be able to find a decent one for a good price.

Ohh.. well eBay has TONS of no name turbos in all sizes for cheap.. and they all suck. If you're looking for a good 20g I suggest a Bouch 20g-XT. You should be able to pick one up new for around $1400.

They're fine.. reliable, a good deal smaller than a 20g though.

You would definitely tell. I would imagine you'd notice faster spool on the VF39, but less power potential. Of course, your car would need to be retuned for one as well...

vf39 flows about 35lb/min.. 20g-XT flows 49lb/min. So about a 14lb/min difference, you would definitely be able to tell. Power wise, you're looking at about 50-60whp more out of a 20g compared to a vf turbo.

20g doesn't spool quite as early.. but testing back to back, a good 20g will pull like a freight train beyond 5500rpm compared to a vf turbo.
