2011 WRX Downpipe w/ no catback

So basically I am looking into getting an invidia catted DP and running cobb's OTS stage 2 map for awhile until I gather enough money for a protune. I cannot seem to find any sound clips of newer wrxs/stis with just a downpipe and no catback. My question is, how much louder will the downpipe make the car over stock if any?

I know the title says no cat back, but did you mean aftermarket downpipe with stock cat back? Just a downpipe with no cat back would be stoooopid loud.

I am (hoping) assuming he means no aftermarket CB... if so OP, don't expect much of a sound change. I haven't put an aftermarket cb on my car because the power to price ratio just isn't worth it for some sound that will get me pulled over more often. My Wife knows when i'm coming down the road so there is a deep tone with the car as I have it, but I can't say it changed much after the DP install.

I think the OP is talking about throwing a downpipe on and keeping the stock exhaust there after. Which YES, it will be louder. Now that will also depend on if you delete the catalytic converter or not, which also depends on your state laws for emissions. You have much research ahead of you!!! But remember to ask questions if you're not finding what you want, but please read the Stickies and SEARCH! If you've tried to find the answer then most people posting won't be upset.

It really shouldn't make the car that much louder. There is not really anything in the stock downpipe that stiffles noise. It is primarily the mufflers (on the catback) that make the difference. I mean, maybe it will be a little louder, but it shouldn't make a huge difference at all. Maybe you are just revving up to higher RPMs more often now

no doubt I'm using the skinny pedal more but removing the cat's will make it louder. Also to the OP, snag an axleback exhaust(no real need for a midpipe). You'll have decent sound when you combine the axleback exhaust with the downpipe. I highly recommend hearing an exhaust in person, also on the same generation model as yours...

I had a invidia catted downpipe and the stock catback for a bit before upgrading. With the stock catback the tone gets deeper, but not louder if that makes sense. It still cruises just as quietly as stock,

Oh and in case your wondering. The power difference between stage 2 stock catback and aftermarket 3" catback. Zip zero nada. Do a catback for sound. They are worth 0 butt dyno horsepower at stage 2 power levels.
