    I think that during the break-in period you should stick with the stock oil and then switch to a synthetic at the first oil change, just like Subaru recommends. The rings and cylinder walls need to wear together a tiny bit for a good seal between the two. You'll make a little more power in the long run, and have less chance of issues.

    I have been running and will continue to use the crap Subaru oil filter. IMO its the best for my engine..

    I agree. I hate using a Fram filter (Honeywell makes the blue subaru filters and Honeywell is fram's parent company) but if you ever have a filter failure that causes engine troubles you should be able to get Subaru to cover it. After warranty I will likely switch to another filter.
