    I've heard that 1st gear pulls are bad for your car, even compared to 2nd. Anyone wanna shed light on the matter?

    Not that i know of.. I know launching is a no no

    I wouldn't turn your car on, go down your driveway, and then start doing 1st gear pulls as you leave, but once all fluids are up to operating temp (NOTE: oil takes about 2X as long as coolant to get up to temp, which is what we have a gauge for in our cluster), a 1st gear pull shouldn't hurt anything, unless there's some kind of a pre-existing issue.
