I believe the 55 Ah rating is ~20% higher than stock; looks like a nice battery!
After a little while I felt a little better, but very little. I needed a drink, I needed a lot of life insurance, I needed a vacation, I needed a home in the country. What I had was a coat, a hat and a gun. I put them on and went out of the room. Fairwell, My Lovely

That's what I was talking about, side terminals. It was able to reach, but the cable was stretched really tight and kept working its way loose. I replaced the cable six years ago and haven't had an issue with it since (other than an exploding RedTop, but that didn't have anything to do with the cable).
when i worked at advance, we had optimas leave and come back the next day dead as a door nail...
Sounds like I may be rolling the dice and buying the DieHard Platinum AGM. 4 Year free replacement, local availability.
Based on the comments here, and others online, it appears the Optima's have gone downhill. Plus I don't like the fact I have to buy a new cable as well as drop $230.
I looked at the new Exide Agm's which look nice, but no local availability.
Odyssey's are nice too, but no local availability either.
And the winner is.....
Die Hard Platinum AGM!
Most expensive battery I have ever bought. MSRP of $220 out the door for $236.
- posts are factory position making battery cable hook up a snap
- 740 CCA
- about 40 lbs
- 100 month warranty, 4 year free replacement, 4 year pro rated
Oh and everyone needs one of these:
I live next to an advance so I don't really need the tester, I just make one of the pawns there test it
optima's are more trouble than good and stupid expensive. Unless you need to operate at some crazy angles, mount upside down or inside a non-vented area... you DONT need or want an optima.
Wander down to autozone or advanced and pick up a standard battery that fits the car. 3 years is about normal for battery life. Cold AND heat kill them equally.
Why spend too much? Just get a factory type replacement and be done with it.
