Whats up guys, I am planning on getting an STi, or and STi swapped wrx when I get back from my deployment, and I am wondering what are some good reliability mods that I can do? I have an 02 wrx that has had more problems than I care to mention, but lets say its currently a massive paperweight. I plan on gathering as much info as I can before I get back. Thanks in advance!

Do not buy a modified car.

    Do not modify the car.

Consider an oil pickup tube, and catless up pipe if the car has a catted pipe.

    Consider a larger oil sump.

Do not use imitation parts. Imitation parts are unauthorized pats sold as "aftermarket,"

^this.. stock will be the most reliable. If anything, maybe consider a KillerB Ultimate Oil Pickup and a quality stage one tune. You could also install a harmonic balancer, but I dunno if that would really improve reliability on a stock car.

The Calsonic radiators are borderline criminal. I went to OEM style Koyo.

I would say a good reliability mod would be an extended warranty (and don't do anything to void it). And doing your regular maintenance.

very hard now to find an older unmolested wrx back here but i have seen a few, their pureness is reflected in the price tag.

Biggest reliability mod would be to search and search and search til you do find a stock unmolested one. Don't just jump at the first one you find that "might" be a good deal. Set expectations for yourself, and stick to them. It took me near 6 weeks to find the perfect unmolested STI when I was searching new. I bypassed many other modded ones in that time.

I'll just add that you gotta do your research with those. They are not all created equal.
