This is a discussion on How much boost will the 11's - 13's turbo efficiently produce? within the Engine Modifications forums, part of the Tech & Modifying & General Repairs category; I'm just wondering what the max for these turbos is. I'm at 20 and a little over here and there. ...

I'm just wondering what the max for these turbos is. I'm at 20 and a little over here and there. I don't know with a TMIC, FP, DP, CAI, 3 port, and OTS tune what else I could add to get that little bit more power, headers are out of the question... to much trouble... just not happening. A protune is 500.00 and I have no clue how much more that would net me over the stage 3 TP tune.

IHI doesn't publicly publish their compressor maps. That being said fuel is the main contributor to more boost. Higher octane/E85 or meth injection is really the only way to get more without turbo modification. Or get the turbine wheel clipped or change the turbine housing to a P20 but injectors will be your limitation. If you are looking for more power try TGV deletes,ported/polished exhaust manifolds or a lightened crank pulley.

I'm surprised you mentioned a lightened crank pulley. Any reason why a lightened crank pulley and not a flywheel?

What's a TGV? What about an EWG? Or is that really needed?

EWG isn't going to get you that much more boost but could get you alittle more topend. TGV= Tumble Generator Valve.

Good point. I always feel they get a pretty bad wrap. I personally am just too cheap to try a pulley. I'd love a nice lightweight flywheel though when I do my clutch. That wait for the revs to drop between first and second is a killer =P

Your EWG setup will come close to a set of equal length headers all said and done. It does make it much easier to tune once you get your turbo dynamics dialed in. I got mine due to some boost creep issues with my catless down pipe.

does this require a tune? and when would something like this be needed? any gains at stock or stage 1-2 that would be noticeable?

Are you speaking of the crank pulley? No tune. it's a driveline modification. It would act like a very slightly lighter flywheel, provided I'm not off my rocker. No measurable hp difference.
