    Although I don't have one yet, if someone was giving me $500 and I HAD to spend it on power mods I would probably go with the accessport like a few others have suggested. If you bought new I think you would have to spend slightly more than $500, but you will probably be spending more on it eventually anyway

    WTF is going on in this thread?!

    Everyone knows the 2008 WRX came with the same V6 found in the Honda Accord, that's why it's so fast.

    Idk...I think it might have a tune already cause its sayin it's stuck in open loop but there's no DTC and also i managed to keep up with a 2011 model WRX which is supposed to have like 40 more horsepower than me...And the DP that came with it looks used so I believe he had it on there before.

    wow.... So much mis information in this thread.

    EJ205 was in USDM WRXs from 2002-2005. (2.0L)
    EJ255 has been in USDM WRXs from 2006 to current. (2.5L)
    EJ257 has been in USDM STi's from 2004 to current. (2.5L)

    In the 2009 model year Subaru started including Silver Rod Bearings. They were failing. The failure dates were from 2008 build dates.

    As for the 500 bucks... add some $$ to it yourself and buy an accessport, or go pay for a protune. May want to add a few other toys to the tune though... like a 3 port boost control solenoid. (The grainger ones can be had for super cheap!)

    You need to find out for sure if it has a tune or not. Regardless, you probably need a tune. You don't want to be driving stuck in open loop all the time. That might also be bad sensors, I think. But that would likely give you a cel.
