    HYPERTECH VS COBB

The price is obviously steering me towards HYPERTECH, but does cobb have any real advantages or is it just more expensive because it's popular.

I have no experience with Hypertech. What does their solution offer?

Cobb is $$ because they've been in the game for a long time, and have a proven track record. They offer support with their base maps.

Cobb. You pay for a quality product, quality support, and a proven record.

If the OP is debating between a Cobb or the HyperTech right now, I'd argue they aren't experienced enough to safely use OpenSource. No offense intended, but you'll have to agree that OpenSource has a far steeper learning curve compared to the plug and play Cobb.

I dunno, I thought ECU Fflash was about as plug and play as it ca get. You have to plug in the flash connector, test mode, and turn the key/hit button at the right time.. no different or harder than AP IMO.. as long as you know how to use a computer.

The Hypertech is very, very limited as far as performance is concerned the way I understand it. You get basicly two maps and they are geared around a completely stock vehicle. I also see no mention of being able to get a "custom tune". Seems to be a very limited option. Cobb is by far, from a performance and functionallity standpoint,a much better choice. I personally use Opensource.

Ditto to both......as long as you can be patient enough to read and follow instructions. Also need to be somewhat familiar with computers.

Good point, but the OP's question seemed to me like they were looking for an OTS tune.

Well I was informed by some people that the hypertech can some how pull better ratios in gains from my engine just with the stock tunes it has available. Even more so than if I had a dyno tune with the cobb.

I don't see how that would be possible. A dyno tune will be custom taylored to your car and the environment it is in.. if the Hypertech tune was that aggressive it would be blowing up engines left and right because not all cars are the same, and not everyone lives at the same altitude and climate.
